AN ORDINANCE FSTABLISHING REGULATIONS FOR 14iE MUNICIPAL BATHING BEACHFS
AND TO BECON�' R P:'1RT OF T![E CITY CCDE AS Ci±AFTIIi 77.
The City Council of the City of Fridley do ordain as followa:
77.01 BEACH SEASON AND HOURS. The daLe oP the seaaon opening and
, closing of the hiunicipal BAthing Beaches, generally June 15th to August 15th�
shall be directed by the Recreation Commission, each calendar year.
77.�2 Y.�URS FCR SUPF�%VISED Slv`II�?ING. (1) The Fridley IMUnicipal
Pathing Beaches shall be attended by lifeguards who shall work at hours
and times designated by the Recreation Co�niasion.

(2) The Supervisorf Lifeguard or any one of the lifeguarda on
duty at the beach may close the 3athing Beaches whenever in his judge-
ment the water is too rough or cold for bathing. No peraon shall be per-
mitted in the water during the periods when the beaches are declared
cloaed by a lifeguard.
77.03 P,RTf?ING ?EACH RULES AND P_EGULATIOD;S. (R reference Chapter
75 - Public Beach Parking) (1) No person shall throw, cast, deposit�
damage, lay, place or scatter in the water or upon any bathing beach any
glass, bottles, nails, tacks, wire, crockery, cans or other sharp or
cutting substance, or an,�,� reiuse matter or article or thing of any kind.
If any glass is broken, the person resr.onsible for the breakage shall
immediately pick up tY�e pieces and place them in a trash container.

(2) No person sha11 b*ing into or use in the water artificial
floats oP any kind or description. .
' (3) No person shall bring� drive, lead, carry or pexmit any dog
or other animal, whether leashed or unleashed� niuzzled or unmuzzled, onto
the premises of an;/ bathing beach.
(4) No person shall light or make uae of any fire on any munici-
pal beach, except in locations provided Yor that purpose.

(5) No person shall swim ar.bathe in•Lrhe.water fronting,ahy
bathing beach (a) outside estitiTished'hours; or (b) outside'the'desi-
gnated swimming area at any municipal beach. Persons may swim or bathe
in the deaignated areas after established hours at their own risk.
(6) iVo swi.mmer or bather shall enter the water or onto any bathing
beach� unless clothed in a suitable bathing dress or suit.
(7) No Ferson ahall change clothes on any beach or in vehiclea
parked at any beach.
(81 No person shall appe2r in the state of nudity� nor shall any
peraon make any indecent exposure of his or rer person in any park or upon
any bath3ng beach.
(9) No person shall use profane, offensive� or vulgar language
and no peraon shall conduct himself or herself in a rough, boiaterous,
suggestive or o£fensive manner while in the water or upon any beach.
� (10) No.person shall bring or carry any bicycle upon any bathing
beach� e�ccept to install such vehicle in racks that are provided by the
City of Fridley.
(11) No person shall carry on unnecessary conversation with life-
guards; or falsely call for help or assistPnce, or stand or sit upon or
cling to any lifeguard perches or light towers; or, except in an emergency
to go into or cling to any lifeguard boats.
r (12) No person sha11 conduct himself upon any bathing beach or in
. the water in such a manner as to jeooardize the s2_fety and health of him-
self and-or others.

(13) No �erson having any in4ectious disease shall be admitted
to a bathing beach.
(14) No person� except children� their parents� custodians or
guardians� shall be permitted in any play area on bathing beaches desi-
gnated for children.
{15) No child under 12 veare of age ehall be allowed on the
beach unless the child is under the supervision of a competent person who
arhall be not less than 16 years of age.
77.Ok CONDUCT OF LIFEGUARDB. Al1 lifeguarda ahall be aub-
ject to rules and regulations prescribed by the Recreation Commission.
77.05 AUTI?ORITY OF LIFEGUARDS. T7�e duly appointed life-
guarde are hereby authorized and empowered to order swimmers out of
the bathing heach waters at such time and ur.der 4uch condit9_ona as they
dsem necese�?-�r fcr the publ.ic wei£are and to maintai:i t'r.e peace and
safety on the streets, grotmds and waters involved.
77.� LIQUORS. It shall be unlawful for any peraon to
have in his poasession or to consume any intoxicating liquor or non-
intoxicating malt liquor on Fridley Municipal 3athing Beaches.
77.07 PENALTIFS. That tFis Ordinance sha11 constitute
Chapter 77 0£ the City Code o£ the City of Fridley and that all general
provisions of the City �ode inciuding Chapter 105 entit3ed Penalties�
shall apply to it.
