The City Council of the City of Fridley do ordain as follows:
SECTICN l. That Section 31.02 0£ the City Code of the City of
Fridley be amended as follows:

RATHER THAN A UCLUPdTEER FIF.E CHIEF.
The Ass?stant Chief shall be elected annually by the Members of the
Department subject to confirmation b�� the Council. The Assistant
Chief shall hold of£ice £or one (1} year and until his successor
has �een duly elected, except that he may be removed by the Council
£o: cause and after a public hearing.
Firemen and probationary £iremen shall be suggested £or appointment
,
to the Department by members of tY:e Department� recommended to the
- City� Manager by the Chief, and appointed by the Cit,y T-?anager subject
to cor.firmation by the City Council. Firemen shall continue as mem-
. bers of the Department during good behavior, and may be removed by
ttle City Council upon recommendation o£ the City N,anager only £or
cause and after a public hearing,
