ORDINANCE NO. 507
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 23 OF THE FRIDLEY CITY CODE REGULATING
THE LICENSING AND MANNER OF CONDUCTING DANCES
The Council of the City of Fridley does ordain as follows:
SECTION 2.
Minnesota Statutes Sections 624.42 to�624.54 inclusive are hereby adopted
by re£erence and shall be in full Porce and ePfect in the City o£ Fridley
insofar as applicable.
SECTION II.
No person shall conduct a public dance unless he shall have £irst obtained
a permit therefore £rom the City. The term public dance shall mean any
dance wherein the public may participate by payment, directly or indirectly,
of an admission fee or price for dancing, or a fee for a membership in a
club, and shall include any manner of holding a dance which may be partici-
pated in by the public through the payment of money, directly or indirectly.
Fee for such permit shall be as £ollows: $25.00 Per Year.
It is further provided that the Council may grant permits without charge,
when it is satisfied that the dance,is non-profit or is in the nature of a
civic undertaking.
, The verified application to �the Clerk shall be upon blanks £urnished by the
City. It shall state the name and address o£ the applicant or organization.
It shall state the location where the dance is to be held and the size o£
the dance area. The applicant shall be required to state i£ he has been
convicted of a felony or gross misdemeanor within the past five years.
The Clerk shall submit said application to the Council.
The Council may grant or re£use said permit in its discretion. It shall
not grant a permit unless it is satisfied that the applicant is a person
of good reputation, has not been convicted of a£elony or gross misdemeanor
for five years, that the location is proper and suitable, that sanitary
facilities are proper, and that applicant is capable of maintaining order.
SECTION III.
The permit shall be posted in a visable place at said dance. The applicants
for said permit shall be held responsible £or the manner o£ conducting said
dance. A public officer or public officers must be present at all times
while said pul�lic dance is being held. A public officer is any person who
has been administered the oath o£ o£fice by a person authorized to
administer oaths.
SECTION IV.
' Any person violating any provision of this ordinance shall be guilty o£ a
misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a£ine of
._ not more than $300.D0,. imprisonment for not more than 90 days, or both.
Person means any person, persons, firms or corporations.

to law.
