The Council of the City of Fridley does hereby orrlain as follows:
113.01. DEFIbTITIONS
3. Compost.
A mi�tture of decaying organic matter itt a contained area.
4. Composting.
Any above grourxl microbial process that corroerts ya�l waste and other materials
identified in Section 113.07.02 to on7anic soil additive or mulch by
decomposition of material through an aerobic process praviding adequate o�gen
and moisture.

113.09. SOLID WFvSTE DISFOSALi/CL�MMPQSTING
1. No person shall dispose of solid waste, as defined in Section 113.01.10,
upon any lands in the City of Fridley unless on an approved landfill site,
except that composting may be conducted if in full acco�lance with the
terms of Section 113.07.2.
2. Composting is pexmitted on residential properties conta�n�ng up to four
dwelling units provided that all of the following conditions are met:
A. A compost area may consist of, but is not limited to, yanl uraste,
fruit or vegetable waste, ga�len waste, egg shells, coffee grounds,
soil, fertilizer, flaaers, or small shruh trinnnux�s or twigs (1/4
inch diameter �iminn) generated from the site on which the compost
site is located. However, in no case are the following materials
permitted in compost areas: meat, bones, grease, whole eggs, dairy
products, am3 htnnan or pet feces.

A compost area must be fully confined within a fenced area or
enclosed structure.
� C. A compost area may not be located ui any front yard and must be at
least five (5) feet from any side or rear lot line.

D. A compost area may not exceed 250 square £eet or four (4) feet in
height.
E. A con�ost area must not be established or maintained in a nti-uu�er
such that it creates a nuisance to adjacent properkies. As part of
rr�n,iar maintenance, the compost area must periodically be mixecl to
promote efficient biological deterioration.
