Senior Citizen Center Advisory Board
Community Education Center Conference Room
August 19, 1982
The meeting was called to order at 1:35 p.m. Myhra reported that he hadn't completed
the minutes for the August llth meeting.
The first agenda item was "content" for the Grand Opening set for October 2nd. The
group brainstormed the subject and came up with the following list:
a. Formal Program

c. Refreshments
d. Demonstrations
e. Model Rooms
f. Brochure of Services Offered
g. Congregate Dining
h. Decorations
i. Pictures of Activities
j. Hosts and Hostesses
k. Bingo

The Board then narrowed items to:

a. Refreshme:nts and music in Conference Room.
b. Formal program in gym or our parking lot, featuring a number of speakers.
(several suggested - no decision made)
c. Areas involved will be gym, �onference Room, Room 20, Room 15 in addition
to Center.
d. Connie M. and Char S. will prepare brochure of services possible.
e. Paula W. will check if congregate Dining meal is possible.
f. Decorations will consist of flowers (donated), posters, pictures, etc.
g. A1 Berberich and Helen Deeg wi]l be asked to be Hflst and Hostess.
h. Publicity -"Friends and Neighbors Show", Dunn and Fridley Sun, Cable T.V.,
Community Bulletin Board.
i. Get Vikings Band to play for the dance.
j. Char F. will secure door prizes from local businesses.
k. Char and Tom will work on printed invitations, plus general information poster.
l. Connie will handle transportation needs at 571-3450.
m. Seek further information on peer counseling and video-taping,

Other agenda items:
A. Tony ordered cabinents from Plywood Minnesota at reduced rate.
B. Tony explained Creekside by-laws to the group.
C. Paul Walde was introduced as site coordinator for Senior Nutrition Program.
D. Tony reported th at Plywood Minnes�ta had carpeting at $6.00 per yd. Will
pursue.
E. Pillsbury had donated $250.00.
F. Connie meeting later in day with Sarah B. of H. B. Fuller regarding electrician
help. . _
G. Connie reported that Jaycees had volunteers with carpenter ski1ls.
H. Char F. and Tony L. will seek furniture donations. Need seating for 15
people or so. Munsingwear to have a sale of used furniture.
