Minutes of Meeting
Senior Citizen Center Advisory Board
Community Education Center
Room 5
October 28, 1982
The meeting was called to order at 2:08 p.m. In attendance were Char Fitzpatrick,
Tony Lorbeski, Bill Campbell, Paula Walde, Connie MacMillion, Char Skurich and
Tom Myhra.
The first item of business was a wrap-up discussion about the Grand Opening which
was deemed a very successful beginning for the Center.
The second business item concerned the present status of the Center. It was noted
that Metronics had surplus furniture and a Center representative should get a truck
and go to the warehouse and examine what was available. A great discussion then
occurred regarding usage of the Center. The group agreed on four points:
1. We'll not get unduly excited, but give the Center a chance to grow.
2. We'll use the Center as a place for early Congregate Dining attendees
to gather and visit.
3. We'l1 plan to work with dining site coordinator on featuring birthday party
recognition.
4. We'l1 try to implement suggestions gathered by the Grand Opening survey.
Tony Lorbeski brought a financial statement of the Center's account, explained it,
and answered questions. There followed a discussion about how much maney in general
terms the Center would need to operate in the future. Connie reported on the pro-
blems the city had experienced in paying for a bill for the Center. Hopefully, the
problems can be avoided in the future.
Membership in the Center was the next item of business. Tentatively the Board talk-
ed of :
a. Two categories of inembership.
b. Clear relationship to Friendly Fridley Folks
c. Clear relationship to Community Education and its program
d. Clear relationship to City of Fridley and its programs
e. "Free" days at the Center
f. Total payoff to non-members, full members, members who also belong to FFF, etc.
g. Try sometimes for large members of people at no cost, i.e. bingo
Also on the agenda was one item on Advisory Board membership and responsibilities.

discussion of Baard's responsibilities along with total by-laws for the Center.
Transportation was reviewed and discussed briefly, no decision reached.
The last item on the agenda was future funding of the Center. After considerable
discussion it was agreed that the topic should be the main item of business at our
next meeting.
The next meeting was set for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 18th and the December
meeting was set f or December 2nd at 2:00 p.m.
Meeting adjourned.
