SCCAB 12/07/1982 - 29287MEETING MINUTES . Senior Citizen Center Advisory Board Community Education Center Conference Room Tuesday, December 7, 1982 The meeting was called to order by Tom Myhra at 1:30 p.m. Others in attendance were: Tony Lorbeski, Ron Bloom, Paula Walde, Bill Campbell, Char Skurich, and Connie McMillion. Minutes of the November 18th meeting were approved after noting that Bill Campbell's name should have been among those listed as in attendance. The first item on the agenda was planning for the Birthday Party on Wednesday, December 29th. It will feature birthday cake and a Sing-A-Long from 12:30- 1:45 p.m. Myhra will ask Mrs. Bill Stubbs to play the piano. Paula Walde will secure a song leader. The group suggested other names, including Randy Johnson, if Mrs. Stubbs is unable to play. There will be no games or prizes. Cider will be served. Other items on the agenda included future funding, grants for a coordinator, and dues. The first exercise vn the funding agenda was projecting amounts of money needed for the various budget items: Probable Expenditures - $4,000.00 _ ___ _ - _ _- $400.00 a. Enter�ainment - (bands, films, �tc.) 400.00 �. Miscellaneous The group then turned to the income side of the budget. The group suggested seeking a public grant under Title III B in the amount of $4,000.00 to'10,000.00 to employee a Center Coordinator. A letter of inquiry wilJ go to all large businesses in Fridley seeking information on any grant programs they might have. Service clubs in FridTey will be asked to put the Senior Citizens on a continuing annual donation of $100.00 Discussion occurred on fund raisers and other means of generating income. After lengthy discussion about membership fees, the graup consensus was that some fees would need to be assessed. Potential members who would object to paying � P age 2 Minutes - December 7, 1982 Senior Citizen Center Advisory Board fees would have the opportunity of contributing volunteer work time at the Center. It will be necessary to decide on a specific amount before the projected budget can be completed. Under other items the suggestion was made that a contest be held to design a letterhead and logo. Myhra will make the caTlnecessary to secure Title III B grant application forms. The next meeting date will be determined by the action needed to complete the grant proposed, and possible attendance at the December 15th grant writing workshop. Meeting adjourned.
