RESOLUTION NO. 89 - 1959
A RESOLUTION TO JOIN WITH OTHER COMMUNITIES
TO FORM A HOSPITAL DISTRICT.

WHEREAS, the Cities of Columbia Heights, Fridley
Coon Rapids, and the Villages of Blaine, Spring Lake Park,
Circle Pines, Lexington and Moundsview propose to join to-
gether for the purpose of forming a hospital district, and
WHEREAS, this area comprises a territory of
more than four (4) designated cities and villages, and
WHEREAS, the entire territory of each of these
municipalities is to be included in the hospital district, and
WHEREAS, this City of Fridley is contiguous at
least one point to the territory of one or more of the other
cities or villages included in the proposed hospital district,
and
WHEREAS, none of these municipalities are located
within a duly constituted or organized hospital districts, and
WHEREAS, in the considered judgment of this, the
City of Fridley, it is of the utmost importance and urgency
that hospital facilities be made available to the people located
within its area, and
WHEREAS, in order to accomplish this and for the
purpose of acquisition, betterment, operation, maintenance and
administration of a hospital, nursing home facilities, or such
other hospital service, that in the judgment of the hospital
board would be necessary, this can be accomplished most expedi-
tiously and economically by the formation of a hospital district
to include the area above described and set forth,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of
Fridley do hereby establish that their municipality in its
entirety is hereby included in the proposed hospital district
or such portion of it as shall ultimately be established so
long as it has at least four (4) municipalities in number and
so long as they are contiguous to one of the other municipalities
who ultimately form said hospital district,

AND FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED that this resolution shall
be considered to be in full satisfaction of any and all require-
ments that may have been anticipated for the purpose of joining
this municipality to a hospital district as said requirements are
set forth in Chapter 570, Minnesota Session Laws 1959.
