REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING - MAY 19, 1965
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Nee at 9:03 P.M.
ROLL CALL:

SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES - MAY 14, 1965:
Motion by Kirkham, seconded by Ldright, to approve the minutes of the
special Council Meeting of May 14, 1965. Mayor Nee declared the motion
carried.
MINUTES OP SPECIAL ME�TING OI' MAY 15. 196
Motion by Thompson, seconded by Rirkham, that the minutes of the Special
Meeting of May 15, 1965 be approved. Mayor Nee declared the motion carried.
LETTER FROM ANOKA COUNTY UNION AND SHOPPER INC.:
Motion by Kirkham, seconded by Wright, to receive the letter and direct the
City Manager to prepare a Resolution for the May 21st meeting covering the
suggestions made in the letter. Mayor Nee declared the motion carried.
ESTIMATES - ARCHITECHTURAL WORK - CIVIC CENTER:
The City Manager presented two estimates, one in the amount of $7,330.51
labeled by the Architect as balance through approval of preliminaries as
per April 1, 1965 statement and stahng that this statement is in question
pending contract varification, and an estimate labeled professional
services rendered in preparation of working drawings, mechanical, electrical
and structural engineering in the amount of $13,553.84 with the statment
irom the Architect that this amount is due and owing in conformance with
work performed to date and the agreement applying thereto.
Motion by Thompson, seconded by Wright, to concux in the estimate relatin.g
to working drawings and to pay the Architect $13,553.84, and to withhold
payment of the estimate in the amount of $7,330.51. ilpon a voice vote,
there being no nays, Mayor Nee declared the motion carried.
CONDITION ESTIMATED COST $350,0OO.OD:
Motion by Wright, seconded by Kirkham, to grant the Building Permit. Mayor
Nee declared the motion carried.
WEIGEL, 359 - 57th AVENUE NORTHCAST - 8 UNIT APARTMENT BUILDING TO REBUILD
TO ORIGINAL CONDITION - ESTIMATED $25,000.00 TO $30,000.00;
Mr. Weigel was present and stated that the appraised value by the bank of
this property was $75,000.00 including the 1and. Motion by IZirkham, seconded
by Wright, to table action on this Building Permit until the regular meeCing
of June 7, 1965. Upon a voice vote, there being no nays, Mayor Nee declared
the motiQn carried

T4r. Weigel stated that the bank appraisal, including the land, was $27,500.00
to $27,900.00. Motion by Kirkham, Seconded by Wright, to table action on
this Building Permit to the regular meeting of June 7, 1965. IIpon a vo2ce

to issue a building permit for conseruction at 336-64th Avenue Northease,
to make minimum and necessary temporary repairs to cover andprotect
equipment, supplies, and inventortes as needed. Upon a voice vote, there
being no nays, Mayor Nee declared the motion carried.

PHDTO LIBRARY OF TORIigDO DISASTER:
Mayor Nee suggested collecting a library of photos of the disaster for
historical and possible 1eea1 use. The Mayor estimated that perhaps
$500.00 would defray the cost of purchasing prints, because many prints
would be donated. Motion by Thompson, seconded by Wright, to authorize
the City Manager to acqulre evidence of the tornado disaster damage, by
purchase of a variety of photographs from whatever source possible. ❑pon
a voice vote, there being no nays, Mayor Nee declared the motion carried,

� The City Manager explained that the Building Board had approved the strucL'ure
on February 10, 1965 and the City Gouncil had authonzed granting the 13uzlding
Permit on February 15, 1965. Subsequently the school had been asked to dedi-
cate to the City a 30 foor �easement for the west half of the right-of-waq
of Arthur Street and that by doing so the convent building immediately ad�acent
to the high school would be only approximately 23 feet from the right-of-way
instead of the 35 foot setback required by rhe zoning ordinance
Motion by Wright, seconded by Kirkham, that the Council reaffirm the granting
of the Building Perma�t for the Grace Catholic High School Upon a voice vote,
