RES 1967-24 - 0001064428
RESOLUTION NO, 24 - 1 %7
A RESOLUTION REGARDING SPECIAL ASSENT OF
REAL ESTATE OWNED BY CITIES OF THE FIRST CLASS.
BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Fridley, Anoka
County, Minnesota as follows:
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes presently provide for special
assessment of property owned by all municipalities except cities of the
first class; and
WHEREAS, the City of Minneapolis and the City of St. Paul own
certain property within the City of Fridley; and
WHEREAS, such special exemption of property owned by the cities
of the first class from assessment for improvement projects is unfair
and inequitable to other taxpayers and land owners within the City of
Fridley; and
WHEREAS, legislative bills have been introduced in the 1967
session of the Minnesota Legislature, specifically House File #274 and
Senate File #320, which bills would authorize the special assessment
of-property owned by cities of the first class.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved, that the Fridley City Council
goes on record in support of the above mentioned legislative bills.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council urges the Anoka County
delegation to support said legislation.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIDLEY THIS
6TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1967.
