probably the bid prices would be lower, also ii it was knawn
ahead o time, not as much money would be spent on maintenance,
ii the street is to 7e imprnved within the next year. ri'here would
L-hen ne the advantage oL being ale to tell the peaple when they
call, when their street would be improved. It might also be
possible chat the people vaould liYe to cet their streets improaed

The City Engineer said that this is a 30' road which r_un keiwen
the Skywood Mall Shoppiny Center and l.oberc Iiall`s and carries
a lo oi trafiic. The problem is that clierc is not enough
parking space provided by the apartment house owner. There is
a lz parking space per unit required, but they may be being used
by boats and trailers etc. Councilman P.heriaan suggested th
poss.bility af having 2 hour parking between certain hours, but
that there cannot be 24 hour parking as clzis is against the Ci-cy's
ordinance.
rIr. Yaul Spears, 1050 52nd Fvenue N., said 'chai. he had measured
Lincoln Street which has private residences on it, and th ere caas
2° difference between that street and 52nd 7:venue, yet they have
no restriction on them. rPhe children who live in the apartmen:.
houses play in the bac7c a yreat deal, and hs is where all cYe
deliveries have to be made, and he said that tllese apartmenc
dwellers £eel that this is a hazard i.o che chlldren, as the
drivers are not aware of the many children which play behind
the ]uildin9. He said that iP the no aarl:iny signs absolutelV
cannot come down, then lze would at least 1_1;e to hae a 25 mi]_e
per hour speed limit, as he feels tiac L-he cars L-ake advancaJe
o this clear streeL- and go through this rea u East.
CounciZman Harris said that he had loolced aL- this and he Petc
i:hat some of the problem was that the c,,rac7ing is such in the Iacic
that iL- wi11 not accommodate a large arnount o cars. rIe said thal-
he also noticed that some f th e cars were no pariced properly
and were actually L-a7;ing up two spaces. ile sa, chat during cne
winter ihe snow plow cannot get down tizc. street, as the cars
are not moved for 24 hurs in some areas. he City Engineer
conunented that apartment house people seern co nae a tenaency
coward parYzng on the streets.
Councilman Elarris suggested limiting ar];ing, such as from 6:00
A.M, to 6:00 P,M. there would be no parliny on the streei, thereby
providiny evening visitors a place to par.7:.
