RESOLUTION NO. 1.41 -1968
A RESOLUTION DEDICATING A PORTION OF FRIDLEY CIVIC CENTER
PROPERTY AS EISENHOWER MEMORIAL SQUARE
WHEREAS, the week of October 13, 1968 has been proclaimed as Salute
to Eisenhower Week by Joint House - Senate Resolution on July 19th, en-
joining all people of the United States of observe such week with appro-
priate ceremonies and activities, and
WHEREAS, this City has no memorial park or square in which to place
plaques, statues, or other identification commemorating the residents of the
City of Fridley who have been killed in action against an Armed Enemy
while serving in the Armed Forces of the United States of America, and
WHEREAS, a parcel of ground 125 feet by 100 feet, located on the
southeast corner of the City of Fridley Civic Center grounds, could be
used for a Memorial Square,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By the City Council of the City of
Fridley, Anoka County, Minnesota as follows:
1. That a parcel of ground 125 feet by 100 feet, located in the
southeast corner of the City of Fridley Civic Center grounds is hereby
dedicated and designated Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Square.
2. That the Memorial Square be used for placement of plaques, statues
or other identification commemorating residents of the City of Fridley
who have been killed in action against an Armed Enemy while serving in
the Armed Forces of the United States of America.
3. That present and future City Councils shall approve design and
placement of plaques, statues, and other identification placed in Dwight
D. Eisenhower Memorial Square.
4. That present and future Councils shall reserve the right to move
the Memorial. Square if the land becomes necessary for future governmental
expansion.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIDLEY THIS 16TH DAY OF
SEPTEMBER, 1968.
