RES 1977-36 - 0000710460 RESOLUTION NO. 36 -1977 A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR REDUCED WATER RATES FOR SENIOR CITIZENS WHEREAS, Section 402.08 of the City Code provides that the City Council shall have authority to set water rates by resolution; and WHEREAS, the City Council had indicated a desire to provide a reduced water rate for senior citizens, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the following water rate schedule for all customers except those qualifying for the senior citizen rate shall be as follows: WATER RATE SCHEDULE 0 - 10,000 Gal. $.65/1,000 Gal. - First 10,000 /Minimum $6.50 10,000 - 30,000 Gal. $.50/1,000 Gal. - Next 20,000 Gal. 30,000 - 50,000 Gal. $.44/1,000 Gal. - Next 20,000 Gal. 50,000 - 100,000 Gal. $.38/1,000 Gal. - Next 50,000 Gal. 100,000- 200,000 Gal. $.36/1,000 Gal. - NextlOO,000 Gal. Over- 200,000 Gal. $.33/1,000 Gal. - Over2OO,000 Gal. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby provides a reduced water rate schedule for senior citizens as follows: SENIOR CITIZEN WATER RATE SCHEDULE 0 - 10,000 Gal. $.40/1,000 Gal. - First 10,000 /Minimum $4.00 10,000 - 30,000 Gal. $.33/1,000 Gal. - Next 20,000 Gal. 30,000 - 50,000 Gal. $.29/1,000 Gal. - Next 20,000 Gal. 50,000- 100,000 Gal. $.25/1,000 Gal. - Next 50,000 Gal. 100,000- 200,000 Gal. $.2211,000 Gal. - OvEr200,000 Gal. The following criteria must be met in order to qualify for the senior citizen ' rate: 1. The senior citizens must occupy single family or double bungalow units. The senior citizen rate does not apply to apartments, commercial, industrial, institutional, or other. 2. The customer or person having responsibility for payment of the water charge must be sixty -two years of age or older. 3. The person must certify that the household income is less than $7,000 per year. 4. The senior citizen rates are to be effective with the May 1 billing.
