RES 1981-25 - 0000616446
RESOLUTION NO. 25 - 1981
REQUESTING CONGRESSIONAL CONSIDERATION TO PROVIDE CONTINUED
FUNDING OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT ENTITLEMENT
FUNDS TO ANOKA COUNTY THROUGH THE THREE YEAR PROGRAM
PLANNING CYCLE
WHEREAS, Anoka County, Minnesota was notified on August 1, 1980 of its
eligibility for Community Development Block Grant Entitlement funds as an ,
urban county; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fridley, Minnesota as a City located in Anoka County is
participating with the County under this Community Development Block Grant
Entitlement Program; and
WHEREAS, the County is in its first year of the three year comprehensive
project development for funding under the Community Development Block Grant
Entitlement Program; and
WHEREAS, there is a strong concern for the potential interruption of this
funding due to removal of the County from the entitlement status; and
WHEREAS, if this entitlement status is lost temporarily, the disruption of
funding cycles programmed for three years will have a negative effect on the
project development as laid out in the first year County application; and
WHEREAS, this loss of entitlement would be caused only by unusual
circumstances in determining population and not by downward trends that would
effect the long term determination of entitlement. Anoka County will
continue as one of the fastest growing counties in this area and will again
meet the standards of the urban county by 1982.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Fridley '
hereby request Congressional Consideration to provide continued funding of
Community Development Block Grant Entitlement Funds for Anoka County through
its present three year project funding cycle.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIDLEY THIS 9TH DAY OF
