RES 1981-37 - 00006194RESOLUTION NO. 37 - 1981
A RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO A BILL ALLOWING THE SALE OF
STRONG BEER AND WINE IN RETAIL OUTLETS
WHEREAS, The sale of strong beer and wine in the State of Minnesota is
restricted to those outlets holding intoxicating liquor licenses, and
WHEREAS, The restriction has tended to help regulate the sale of strong beer
and wine within the State of Minnesota, and
WHEREAS, The control would be greatly reduced if any retail outlet that it
now permitted to sell 3.2 beer would be permitted to sell strong beer and
wine, and
WHEREAS, The sale of strong beer and wine in retail stores would reduce
revenues to the City's municipal liquor store, and
WHEREAS, The sale of strong beer and wine in retail stores would add
additional expense to the City's Police Department for control of the law, and
WHEREAS, It is desirable from a City public policy standpoint to regulate and
control the method of dispensing strong beer and wine;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the City Council of the City of Fridley,
Minnesota, hereby goes on record as being opposed to the bill allowing the
sale of strong beer and wine in retail outlets.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIDLEY THIS 30TH DAY
OF MARCH, 1981.
