A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING 'THE INSTALLATION OF AN AERATOR IN
THE WEST BASIN OF MOORE LAKE AND ODNTINUED WATER QUALITY
MONITORING
414
WHEREAS, the Moore Lake Restoration Project requires the installation of a
well to pump water into the east basin of Moore Lake to provide a continuous
flow of water through the T.H. 65 culvert to prevent the culvert from freezing
and trapping fish in the west basin during the winter; and
WHEREAS, the installation of an aerator will be the least costly method of
preventing winter kill due to freezing in the west basin; and
WHEREAS, the cost of installing the aerator is eligible for funding under the
conditions of the Moore Lake grant; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable to continue monitoring the water quality in Moore
Lake to measure the effectiveness of the Moore Lake Restoration improvements
and to ensure water quality in the future.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fridley
that:
1. An aerator be installed in the west basin of Moore Lake
instead of a well to prevent winterkill of fish in the
west basin.
2. All the costs associated with the installation of an
aerator in the west basin be included in the Moore
Lake Restoration Project.
3. That the water quality monitoring program in Moore Lake
be continued to ensure the highest standard possible.
4. That a water quality monitoring program be initiated
to measure the effectiveness of the BASFU Treatment System.
