RES 1988-65 - 00004448RESOLUTION NO. 65 - 1988 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE RECEIVING OF ALL BIDS AND THE REJECTING AND REORDERING OF CERTAIN BIDS FOR THE EXPANSION AND RENOVATION OF THE FIRE STATION, CIVIC CENTER AND PLAZA PARKING RAMP WHEREAS, the existing Civic Center facility is 20 years old and has never had any major renovation; and WHEREAS, the original heating, ventillation, air conditioning equipment and the entire roof need replacement; and WHEREAS, the Fire Department area is over 35 years old and requires extensive mechanical and electrical retrofitting; and WHEREAS, there is a growing requirement for space for civic and community activities in the Civic Center; and WHEREAS, the City has already approved a renovation and expansion of the Police Department; and WHEREAS, the City Council has budgeted and set aside funds over the last ten ' years for renovation and updating of equipment; and WHEREAS, the Fridley HRA has identified a need for additional parking in the Fridley Plaza area; and WHEREAS, the Fridley BRA has agreed to participate in the expansion of Fridley Plaza parking facilities; and WHEREAS, it has been found most economical to complete both the building expansion and parking ramp construction at the same time; and WHEREAS, at City Council direction, Boarman and Associates Architects has completed plans and specification for the expansion and renovation of the Civic Center office and parking facilities, incorporating records retention, telecommunications, computer and audio /visual studies; and WHEREAS, the City Council has advertised for and received bids on the plans and specifications; and fl 1 F1 Page 2 - Resolution No. 65 - 1988 WHEREAS, at City Council direction, Bossardt Christenson Corporation, Construction Managers, have analyzed the bids and recommended bid dispositions. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fridley, that the bids listed on Exhibits A and B be received; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the bids listed on Exhibit B be rejected and are ordered for rebidding, except for specification Section 09650, Resilient Flooring, and 09680, Carpet.
