CANVAS REPORT OF GENERAL ELECTION — NOVEMBER 7, 2000
November 9, 2000
A general election was held on Tuesday, November 7, 2000, for the offices of Mayor and
Councilmember-At-Large and a Charter Amendment pertaining to tax and fee increases. Attachment 1
is the Statement of Canvass for this election. State Law states that the City Council must canvas the
results within 7 days of the election. I have included the total number of ballots cast in the city for this
election, the total number of votes for each candidate and ballot question (which includes over-votes,
under-votesvotes and write-ins where applicable), a true copy of the ballot, and the names of the election
judges as required.
There were a total number of 16,235 registered voters at 7:00 a.m. on election day and a total of 2,451
new registrations for a total number of registered voters of 18,686. The voter turnout for the general
election was 74%.
Staff recommends a motion accepting and certifying the results of the election.
