RESOLUTION APPROVING AGREEMENT WITH
THE STATE OF MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE EXISTING TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNAL
AT TRUNK HIGHWAY 65 AND MOORE LAKE DRIVE
WHEREAS, on July 21, 1975, the City of Fridley passed Resolution No. 121 -1975 approving an
agreement with the Minnesota Highway Department to for construction and maintenance of a new traffic
control signal system at Trunk Highway 65 and Moore Lake Drive, and
WHEREAS, subsequent resolutions by the City of Fridley approved agreements for signal
interconnection and Emergency Vehicle Pre - emption System (EVP System), and
WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota Department of Transportation ( MNDOT) has determined that there is
justification and it is in the public's best interest to remove the existing traffic control signal and install a
new traffic control signal including street lights and interconnect, and
WHEREAS, the City of Fridley has requested and MNDOT agrees to the installation of internally lit
signage and an Emergency Vehicle Pre - emption System, and
WHEREAS, MNDOT has included this project in the 2009 State Transportation Improvement Plan
(STIP),
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fridley, Anoka County,
Minnesota as follows:
That the City of Fridley enter into Mn/DOT Agreement No. 93872R with the State of Minnesota,
Department of Transportation for the following purposes:
To remove the existing Traffic Control Signal and Install a new Traffic Control Signal
with Street Lights, Emergency Vehicle Pre - emption, Interconnect and Internally Lit Signs
on Trunk Highway No. 65 at East and West Moore Lake Drive under State Project No.
0207 -89 (T.H.65 =005) and State Aid Project No. 127 - 302 -013 within the corporate City
limits.
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and the City Manager are authorized to execute the
Agreement and any amendments to the Agreement.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FRIDLEY THIS 9TH DAY
OF FEBRUARY, 2009.
