A RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND ORDERING ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS:
MAIN STREET SIDEWALK PROJECT NO. ST 2011 -22
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Fridley has established a policy of constructing
pedestrian and bicycle facilities when necessary, and
WHEREAS, the 2030 Comprehensive Plan has identified this segment of Main Street to be in
need of pedestrian and bicycle facilities, and
WHEREAS, the City of Fridley was awarded a Transit for Living Communities grant for
pedestrian and bicycle facilities along Main Street, and
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has submitted construction plans and specifications
identifying the installation of pedestrian and bicycle facilities for Main Street,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Fridley, Anoka
County, Minnesota, as follows:
That pedestrian and bicycle facilities recommended for construction by the Public Works
Department be constructed, and the work involved in said improvement shall hereafter be
designated as Main Street Sidewalk Project No. ST 2011 -22. The project will include the
segment described as follows:
Main Street from I -694 to 61 st Avenue
2. The plans and specifications prepared by the Director of Public Works for such improvements are
hereby approved and shall be filed with the City Clerk.
The work to be performed under Main Street Sidewalk Project No. ST 2011 -22 shall be
performed under one contract as may be feasible based on bids received.
The Director of Public Works shall accordingly prepare and cause to be inserted in the official
newspaper advertisement for bids upon the making of such improvements under such approved
plans and specifications. The advertisement shall be published at least 10 days prior to bid
opening, and shall specify the work to be done and will state that bids will be opened at 2:00
p.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, and that no bids
will be considered unless sealed and filed with the Director of Public Works and accompanied by
a cash deposit, bid band, or certified check payable to the City of Fridley for five percent (5 %) of
the amount of such bid. The advertisement for bids for Main Street Sidewalk Project No. ST
2011 -22 shall be substantially standard in farm.
