Dear Scott, Bob, Ann, Dolores, and Jim:
After thinking about this for some time, I have decided to make the very tough decision to retire
from my position as City Manager of Fridley effective December 31, 2012. It was a very difficult
choice in that Fridley has been the highlight of my professional life. I truly love working here
and have enjoyed working with each of you, as well as the department managers and other
employees of the City of Fridley.
As I leave, I want to thank you for the great teamwork that you have displayed in working with
me and staff over the last twenty -four years. What we have had has often been difficult to find in
many other places. I genuinely feel that your spirit of cooperation with me and other staff has
contributed to making Fridley one of the best city governments in the metro, if not the state.
There are lots of memories that I leave behind and lots of sadness for me as I leave the charge
that has meant so much to me. Thank. you for your role in making my long stay here as
personally rewarding as it has been. Best wishes to you as you face the future challenges for city
government in Fridley.
Sincerely, W 4'.
William W. Burns
Fridley City Manager
