Olson Consulting Engineers. Upon review of this plan, and of the approved grading plan dated Novenber 11, 1974, it should be noted that it appears a series of retaining wall teY- races will be required to pxoperly develop Lot 2. This is required due to the existing grades of the property immediately to the south of Lot 2. It should al.so be noted that the final gradinv plan of this lot shall @izect all drainage through a coinmon draina�e swale between Lots 3 and 4 to McRinley Streeto Yt's imperative that the drainage take this direction, rather than attempting to handle it alang the rear lot lines north to 61st Avenue. As for matching into the existing property to the south of Lats 2 and 3, a maximum slope of 3 to 1 must be obtained. If the contours do not a11ow this required slope, the appropriate series of retaining wall terraces �aill be requi.red. Dear Sirs: This letter is to make clear this department's requirements for the swimming pool construction at the above address. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. _ 7.' 8. As indicated, two (2) skimmers approved by th� National Sanitation Foundation will be provided, As indicated, three (3) inlets of approved design for fresh and/or repurif ied water will be provided. As indicated, a main drain of approved construction will be provided. The filter and pump shall be approved by the IJ.S.F, and be of sufficient capacity to provide a min�mtun turnover of at least two (2) times in 24 hours. This departmen t reco�nends a turnover rate of 6 - S hours. A deck of at least three (3) feet wide, measured from th8 pool waters edge, shall be provided which extends completely around all private residential pools. Above ground private residential pools may be provided with decking of a minimum size of 4 feet by 4 fee� at pool entry points and provided that such decking has the approval of the City. The ciiving area will be acceptable provided there is no overhead obstruction. Fencing or other effective means including but not limited to walls or buildings, acceptable to the City, shall be provided to positively control all access to public and private residential swimming pools. Fencing shall meet the following criteria: (a) The fencing shall prevent the entrance of children and be without hand or foot holds that would enable a person to climb over it. (b) The f encing shall be at least 6 feet high and entrances shall be equipped with self-closing and self-latching gates capable of being locked. (c) Self-closing and self-latching devices shall be placed at the top of the gate or othezwise inaccessible to small children. (d) The opening between the bottcen of the fence and the ground or other surface shall be not more than four inches. All electrical and plumbing installa tions shall be inspected and approved by the City Inspection Departrnent. 10. All overhead electrical lines must be a minimtmt of 10 feet horizontally from the pool surface, and 18 feet straight line distance from the waters edge. An alternative is to buzy said lines. 11. The pool fill spout must be protected by a vacuum breaker or aix- gappe d. 12. Suitable saf ety equipment to include but not limited to a ring buoy and rope tha t is 1� times the pool diameter, and shepherds crook pole must be provided and maintained with the pool at all times. Furthermore, these and any other requirements must meet the provisions of the Fridley City Code, Section 115, Swin¢ning Pools. Dear Sirs: This letter is to make clear this department's requirements for the sw9mming pool construction at the above address. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. As indicated, two (2) skimmers approved by ths National Sanitation Foundation will be provided. As indicated, three (3 ) inlets of approved design for fresh and/or repurified water will be provided. As indicated, a main drain of approved construction wi11 be provided. The filter and pump shall be approved by the t1.S.F, and be of sufficient capacity to provide a minimtun turnover of at least two (2) times in 24 hours. This departinent reco�ends a turnover rate of 6 - 8 hours. A deck of at least three (3) feet wide, measured from the pool waters edge, shall be provided which extends completely around all private residential pools. Above ground private residential pools may be provided with decking of a miniatum size of 4 feet by 4 feet at pool entry points and provided that such decking has the approval of the City. The diving area will be acceptable provided there is no overhead obstruction. Fencing or other effective means including but not limited to walls or buildings, acceptable to the City, shall be provided to positively control all access to public and private residential swimming pools. Fencing shall meet the following criteria: (a) The fencing shall prevent the entrance of children and be without hand or foot holds that wauld enable a person to climb over it. (b) The fencing shall be at least 6 feet high and entrances shall be equipped with self-closing and self-latching gates capable of being locked. (c) Self-closing and self-latching devices shall be placed at the top of the gate or otherwise inaccessible to small children. (d) The opening between the bott�n of the fence and the ground or other surface shall be not more than four inches. All electrical and plumbing installa tions shall be inspected and approved by the City Inspection Department. 10. Al1 overhead electrical lines must be a minimtun of 10 feet horizontally from the pool surface, and 18 feet straight line distance from the waters edge. An alternative is to buxy sai.d lines. 11. The pool fill spout must be protected by a vacuum breaker or air- gappe d. 12. Suitable safety equipment to include but not limited to a ring buoy and rope that is 1� times the pool diameter, and shepherds crook pole must be provided and maintained with the pool at all ti.mes. Furthermore, these and any other requirements must meet the provisions of the Fridley City Code, Section 115, Swi�ning Pools. Pipinq sYiall consist of cast iron dialatrol valve connected by S.S. band clamps. The operation of the filter and backwash cycie may be accomplished by the simple manipulation of the valve liandle. The dialatrol filter control valve shall be fully ported wit!� positive sealing gasket and rotary plug. ' The dialatrol valve shail be connected to the tank �•�ith uand clamps for easy removal. The filter shall be con- nected to the pump by means of a stainless steel connector. The pump volute and seal plate shall be manufactured of cast iron especially cast to produce smootli surfaces for water passage. A cast iron pump strainer shall be an integral part of the pump assen�ly. Tne strainer lid shall be cast iron and secured with manganese bronze "T" head bolts. Tne seal bet�een the cover and the strainer pot shall be effected by means of an 0-P.ing gasket. The strainer baskets siiall be molded of hi-teinperature, hi-impact styrene a�itli integral lead ballast. The pump impeller shall be an integral bronze casting of the sen�i-enclosed type, attaciied to the motor shaft. A stainless steel shaft seal of the mechanical type shall Ge provided with ceramic seat and carbon ���ear ring. A IVEi1A C faced motor with a drip proof enclosure shall be bolted to the pump volute. The motor shall be of the capacitor type with silver faced centrifugally operated disconnect switch- ing, and shall be fitted with a thermal overload-protection of the self-resetting type and a stainless steel shaft.
