SECTION 2. The Inspector of Buildings shall, before issuzng permits for the
exection of any building or structure, or for any addition to any exi.sting
building or structure, or for any a].tcration or repairs to any existing
building or structure, upon application L-herefore, require the payment by the
applicant for such permit of fees to the amount herein below set forth and in
the manner herein provided to-�ait:

feet, or fraction the.reof, in such cubical contents. Type 3& 5-$1.85 for
each one thousand cul�ic feet.
ADDITIONt�L INI�ORI�IATION
I'or the purpose o� computing fees for building permits, the cubical contents
of any building or addition, is determined by multiplying the ground area
covered from a point six (6) inches below the iloo-r line of the basement
or the cellar to the average hei_ghts of the upper surface or i.o the average-,
lzeight of the roof surface of the main gable of a pitched roof.
For repairs or alterations to an existing structure, the fee shall be at the
rate �f $3.00 per each five hundred dollars ($500,00) or fraction thereof in
the cost of all proposed �aoxk.
In no case sha11 the fee charged for any permit as set foxth in Section 2 be
less than Y5.00.

NOTE: Permits for construcLion wi11 Ue issued a minimum of 24 hours fxom the
tir.ie of application, to allow for proper review of the proposed structure and

We are in receipt of your claim for reimbursement for damages
occurring at 1558 Briardale Road due to a wet basement. I
am forwarding your claim to the City's insurance campany for
processing.
The attached survey performed by our division indicates that
sufficient positive drainage away from this residence was not
accomplished during the landscaping process. In fact, along
the east property line in this rear yard area, there appears
to be negative drainage sloping towards the house.
In your letter, you mentioned that the water problem was due
to the City incorrectly grading the park property behind this
address. If you recall, around August of 1976, we made con-
tact with you whereby you agreed to level off and grade this
park property and the City would then provide vegetative
covering. Since that time, the only work the City has per-
formed has been adjacent to Rice Creek Drive.

Enclosed please find a bill which was paid by Pine Tree Builders, Inc.
because of water damage to Mr. & Mrs. Jim McCulloch's home at 1558
Briardale, Fridley.
On February 25, 1977 I called the City and told them of a dangerous
situation developing in the park because the water was draining into the
McCulloch's yard. I met with Mr. r�IcCulloch on the 25th, we dug a
trench to help drain the property. On the 2gth of February I called
again and talked to someone in the Park Department. Someone was sent
out to work in the area but by noon on that day a large pond had
developed in the rear of 1558 Briardale and the water was entering the
McCulloch's basement. I took a couple men with me and went to their
home and removed the carpet from the bedroom and the familyroom. Then
we took the carpet to Jerry's Floor Store and he dried it for us. The
carpet for the familyroom was ruined however, and we had to replace it.
After we were sure the frost was out and we would not have anymore
damage this season we then layed new carpet in the familyroom and relayed
the carpet for the bedroom.
Inasmuchas the water came from the park area and the City did not
correctly grade the property, I feel the least the City could do is
reimburse me for my out-of-pocket expenses to the Floor Store.

VERIFICATION OF FOUNDATION
