II. Uescription: A. General: The prefabricated structural sandwich
panels are for use as exterior walls and roof panels. They consist of a rigid-
closed cell expanded polystyrene insulation core having a nominal density
of 1 pound per cubic foot, with facings of �/z-inch-thick waferboard. The
waferboard shea[hings are manufactured by Blandin Wood Products Com-
pany as recognized in ICBO Evaluation Scrvice, Inc., Report No. 3650 or
shcathings recugnized in NER-315 by the Waferboard Association. Thc
exterior waferboard skins are bonded to the expanded polystyrenc core with
Sw ifts 1786-1 adhesive classified as a TyEx; 2, Class 2, adhesive. Exterior
wall panels are provided with a weather-resistive barrier in accordance wi[h
Section 1707 (a) and a complying wall covering in accordance with Section
Zi 16 (g) of thc codc. Gypsum wallboard complying with U. B.C. Standard
Nu. 47-1 l is used as a thermal barrier in accordance with Section 1712 of
the code and is attached to all walls and ceilings of the building interioc The
�/z-inch gypsum wallboard is fastened to the wall panels wi[h 1�/z-inch
bugle-head wallboard screws on 14-inch horizontal and 16-inch vertical
centers. Additional screws are placed in the wallboard near the corner. The
�irinch gypsum wallboard is fastened to the ceiling of the roof panels with
identical type screws used on the wall panels except are spaced at 24 inches
on renter each H�ay.
B. Panels: l. Standard Wall Panels: Panel facings are '/z-inch-thick
waferboard bonded to a 5'/z-inch-thick polystyrene core. The 6�/z-inch-
wide standard wall panels are fabricated in I- to 4-foot widths and 8 feet in
height. The insulation core is recessed 2'/s inches from the top of [he panel
edge, I'/x inches from the bottom and 15/a inches on one side from the panel
edge. These recesses receive double 2 by 6 plates at the top, a single 2 by 6
sill plate at the bottom installed at the jobsite. A 2 by 4 post a[tached flatwise
to each face on one v�ertical side ot the panel is factory installed. The plates
and posts are nailed to the waferboard with 8-penny common nails spaced at
b inches on center. The top and bottom plates are spruce-pine-fir No. 2 or
bettec The posts are spruce-pine-fir Standard grade or better.
2. High-capacity Wall Panel: The 6�/z-inch-wide high-capacity wall
panel is fabricated identically to the standard wall panel, except the 2 by 6
rop and botrom plates and 2 by 6 posts are Douglas fir-larch or southern
yellow pine No. 2 or bettec The waferboard facings are fastened to Ihe top
and bottom plates with Ad common nails at 3 inches on center and the posts
with Sd nails at 6 inches on center.
3. Curtain Wall Panel: The 6�/z-inch-wide curtain wall panel is fabri-
cated identically to the standard wall panel, except the commercial wall
pancl dimensions are 4 feet wide by 16 feet in height. The waferboard panels
are full length on each face without intermediate joints. The panels are used
as curtain walls and considered nonbearing.
4. Roof Panels: The 4-foot-wide, 16- and 18-foot-long, 8�h-inch-thick
roof panels have the same facings as the standard wall panels, except they
have a 7�/rinch-thick foam core recessed I�/z inches from transverse edges
and' �/ie inch from longitudinal edges. T'wo by eight hem-fir, No. 2 or better,
wood members are installed in the recessed areas with 8-penny common
nails spaced at 6 inches on centec The ruof panels are protected by a roof
covering complying with Chapter 32 of Ihe codc.
5. Hikh-capacity Roof Panel: "Che 4-foot-wide, 16-foot long, 8�/z-inch-
wide roof panels are idcntical to thc roof pancls described except a 2 by 8
hem-fir, No. 2 or better, wood membcr is installed in the center of panel
longitudinally. This provides a 24-inch on-center spacing of the 2 by S joists
in the panel. The waferboard is fastened to the cen[er joist with 8d common
nails at 3 inches on center and the perimeter joists with 8d common nails at 6
inches on center.
6. Lintels: The 6�/rinch-wide lintels are fabricated identically to the
swndard wall panels except the lintels are 13'/a inches deep for spans up to 9
fect. The wafcrbourd facings are fastened to hem-fir, No. 2 or better, double
2 by 6 top plates with 8d commoo nails at 6 inches on center and single
bottom plate, and 2 by 4 posts with Sd common nails nt 3 inches on ccnter.
Thc allowable uniform load capacity of thc lintcls for spans up to � muxi-
mum of 9 feet is 340 pounds per linear foot.
7. Miscellaneous: AlI wall panels include a 1-inch-diameter horizontal
channel located in 16 inches above the bottom of the punel for elcctrical
wiring. Vertical passageways are installed along one edge of wall panels
when adjacent ro exterior doors and coimtertop windows for electrical
oudets. An additional horizontal passageway is locatcd 44 inches above the
Floor when adjacent to counterrops. Horizontal panels have electrical pas-
sageways in predetcrmined loculions only. Passagcways for plumbing and
mechanical systems are provided in interior walls only. Electrical, plumb-
ing and mechanical systems are not a part of this report and require specific
approval of thc building official.
C. Installation: Wall panels are installed on conventional wood floors
end foundations in accordance wi[h the code. Wall panels are connected to
adjacent panels with 8-penny common nails at 6 inches on centec Tongue-
and-groove transverse edges on stacked wall panels are cut syuare to bear
u�iformly on the 2 by 6 top and bottom sill plat�s. Psnel facings are attached
to the sill plate with 8-penny common nails at 6 inches on center. The top
plate is fastened to each 2 by 4 vertical posts with two 16-penny nails. The
factory-installed 2 by 4 connecting members are located in the leading edge
of the panels and toenailed with 16-penny nails to the sill plates prior to
nailing to the adjacent panels with 8-penny common nails at 6 inches on
centet Lintels at window and door openings are installed on adjacent wall
panels as shown on Figure No. I.
Roof panels span between wall panels and support beams and are con-
nected with me[al tie plates and straps as shown in Figures Nos. 3, 4 and 5.
All connections must be designed based on design loads. Adjacent tongue-
and-groove wood paneis are connected with 8-penny common nails into
shared 2 by 8 members.
The wall panels are connected to conventional floor-joist sysfem as
shown in Figure No. 6.
D. Allowable Loads: The allowablc loads for the Enercept Building
System components are as specified in Teble No. I.

IV, Findings: That the Enercept Structural Sandwich Panels are an
alternate method of construction to that specified in the 1982 Uniform
Building Code, subject to the following conditions:

Re: Swimming Pool Construction at 1566 Briardale Road N.E.
Dear Mr. & Ms. Hansen:
This letter is to make clear this department's requirements for
the swimming pool construction at the above address.
1. As indicated, one (1) skimmer approved by the National
Sanitation Foundation will be provided.
2. As indicated, one (1) inlet of approved design for fresh
and/or repurified water will be provided.
3. The filter and pump shall be approved by the N.S.F. and be
of sufficient capacity to provide a minimum turnover of at least
two (2) times in 24 hours. This department recommends a turnover
rate of 6- 8 hours.
4. A deck of at least three ( 3) feet wide, measured from the
pool waters edge, shall be provided which extends completely
around all private residential pools. Above ground private
residential pools may be provided with decking of a minimum size
of 4 feet by 4 feet at pool entry points and provided that such
decking has the approval of the City.
5. Fencing or other effective means including but not limited
to walls or buildings, acceptable to the City, shall be provided
to positively control all access to public and private
residential swimming pools. Fencing shall meet the following
criteria:
a. The fencing shall prevent the entrance of children and be
without hand or foot holds that would enable a person to climb
over it.
b. The fencing shall be at least 6 feet high and entrances
shall be equipped with self-closing and self-latching gates
capable of being locked.
c. Self-closing and self-latching devices shall be placed at
the top of the gate or otherwise inaccessible to small children.
d. The opening between the bottom of the fence and the ground
or other surface shall be not more than four inches.

6. An automatic chlorinator should be provided with a suitable
test kit.
7. All electrical and plumbing installations shall be inspected
and approved by the City Inspection Department.
8. All overhead electrical lines must be a minimum of 10 feet
horizontally from the pool surface and 18 feet straight line
distance from the waters edge. An alternative is to bury said
lines.
9. The pool fill spout must be protected by a vacuum breaker or
air-gapped.
10. Suitable safety equipment to include but not limited to a
ring buoy and rope that is 1 1/2 times the pool diameter, and
shepherds crook pole must be provided and maintained with the
pool at all times.
Furthermore, these and any other requirements must meet the
provisions of the Fridley City Code, Section 115, Swimming pools.
The building permit is approved contingent on final inspections
and approval by the City.

According to Section 4715.2800 of the State Plumbing Code, a final inspection shall be
