Seczion 2. The Inspector of Buildin�s shall, before issuing any permit for
t�� e�Pct3on o£ any building or structure, or for any addition to any exis�-
i�g buildimmg or structure, or for any alterations or rapairs to any e�is�ing
bua.lding or s�ructure, upoa application therefor, require the payment by the
applicant for such permit of fees to the amount herein below set forth and
in the maaner herein provided to-wit:
2.1. For aay such permit for �he erection o.f ariy fire-proof building, other
thP� a gar�.ge�_warehouse, fac�oa�y.or �rain eleva�or, or for the erection of
aay fire-p�oof addition, foz sim3.la� occupancy, to �ny existing buildin,
shsil be at the rate of $1.40 for each one thousaud cubic feeC, or frac�iQn
��ereof, in such cubical coatenta.
2.2. For any such permit for the ereetioa of any fire-proof garage, warehouse,
�actoLy or grain elevator, or for the erection of any fire-proof a�ditioa�,
for similar occupancy, to anq existing buildfng shall be at the r�te oi �1.25
for each oae thousand cubic feeC, classified as °'fireproof" by Section 502 of
t�e l�tnnea.polis Building Code.

2.3, For any such permit for the erection of any non-fizeproof building other
than a garage, warehouse, factorg or grain elevator, or anq noa-fireproof
addition, for similar occupaacy, to any existing build3ng - permit $1.00 fos
each one thousand cubic feet.

oa fr.action thereof, in the cubical cacitents thereof with a minimum of $4.00.

of any buildiag or addition to a uniform height throughout by �uitiplying t��e
g�ound area covered from a point six (6) inches.below the floor line of ttae
basement or cellar to the average height of Che upper surface or to the
average height of the roof surface of the main gable of a pitched roof.
2.5. For repa3rs or alterations to an exis�ing structure, the fee shall be
at the rate of $3.00 pe�c each Fiva flundred Dollars ($500.00) or fr�ction
thereof ia the cost of ali proposed work.
2.6. In no case ahall the fee charged for any permit as eet forth in
Section 2 be lesa than $4_00.

A question has been raised regarding the flow of street water on the driveway of 29(3 Craigbr�ok
Drive.
This driveway is just upstream of the Alden Way catch basin system which drains into
Stonybrook Creek. As a result of the huge tai.ns we have been having, it appeais that debris
accumulated in the two catch basins on either side of Alden Way thereby reducing their flow.
As a result, water backed up along the curb line and flowed into the drive at 290 Craigbrook.
This paiticular problem was a sesult of an inordinate amount of rain that we expeiienced as well
as the amount,of debris that accumulated on the stieet. As a solution, it is recommended that
residents in the area clear the catch basins and eliminate the disposal of debris into the street
to reduce this problem.

The low point on Alden Way where it crasses Stonybrook Creek was surveyed to compare its
elevation against the elevation of the driveway and garage at 290 Craigbrook Way. During a
major rain event, ox if all of the catch basins on Alden Way are blocked with debris, water v�ill
pond in the street and could go part way up the driveway. However, water would have to flow
over both sides of the road at a depth of 6 to 10 inches before it would enter the garage.
There are currently six catch basins at this low point on Alden Way and an additional catch
basin at the corner of Craigbrook Way and Alden Way, all of which have a grate elevation lower
than the garage floor at 290 Craigbrook Way.

On Monday, August 11, 1997, I met with Mr. Gross of 290 Craigbrook Way to review how the
elevation of Alden Way had changed as a result of our 1996 Street project.
The Alden Way profile elevation was raised as a result of the vertical curve required to smooth
the transition between the grades north and south of this low point.
The east flow line at the existing catch basin was iaised 0.2 ft. The east flow line at Mr. Gtoss'
driveway was raised 0.15 ft. The road centerline through the low point was raised 0.2 ft and it
was rai.sed 0.3 ft in front of Mr. Gross' driveway.
The elevation of Mr. Gross' driveway between his garage and the right-of-way is unchanged
Water ponding at the low point does reach the lower portion of his driveway, however, it would
need to pond to a depth of 1.4 ft and overflow the banks on either side 6-in deep before entering
his garage.
