with closer and chain and seal tight azound entire perimeter, especiall�� the

d. Add new vinyl bumper insert to threshold of north prime door also alwninum
sweep with triple vinyl seal to same door. Also install weatherstripping to
nozth door (prime) of bronze V strip style 6 quality or comparable. Do top 6
both sides, then caulk with clear silicone around weatherstripping to retard
anp infiltration between brads. !
e. Add 3-M type adhesive weathez V-strip to door leading to upstairs and inner south
facing kitchen door to seal off unconditioned spaces from heated areas of home.
Also add aluminum sweeps with vin}�1 seal to the same 2 doors.
f. Weatherstrip attic access door east around outside perimeter with 3M t}•pe weather
v-strip to assure tight seal. Reattach existing fiberglass batt insulation to
attic kneewall access door north and weatherstrip with adhesive V-type weather-
stripping. Add slide-bolt type lock on inside of kitchen door south to ensure
tight seal between kitchen & entry wa��.
5-12 windows
a. Repla�� complete south facing basement w�indow unit. Replace existing unit wi[h
w000en arning, top hinged window with either double glazed insulated glass or
sinyia glazed window with storm• Window must be completely weatherstripped.
Add all trim pieces to finish and stain, seal S varnish or prime 6 paint to
match existing conditions.
b. weatherstrip all remaining basement windoMS with 3M type adhesive weather
V-strip. Attach weatherstripping to jans, running along entire window stops to
ensure a snug fit when the windows are pulled shut.

5-10 WEATHERIZATION
a. Insulate three exterior walls of crawl space. Insulate rim joist area w•ith 6"
fiberglass batts then staple, or with furring strips, attach 6" batts to sill
plate and cut long enough to cascade down the wall to the ground. Cover entire
ground, upon completion, with 4 mil pol�� lapped at the joints and run up side
walls, under fiberglass, at least 6 inches.
b. Insulate exposed north block foundation wall (where clothesline is attached).
Insulate from floor to ceiling by attaching furring strips, 24" on center,
gluing with PL 200 or equivelent, 3/9 rigid board insulation, Tuff-R or Thermax,
then sheetrock. Use 1/2" sheetrock, tape 3 coats, sand 6 paint.
c. Install vin}�1 faced fiberglass jacket on vatez heater. Jacket must be of
at least R 6 value and special care must be taken to not cover therostat control,
drain valve, or pressure relief valve. Add pipe insulation of at least RS to
all hot water runs where pipes are accessible.
d. Caulk all exterior envelope infiltration points to include:
1. Window 6 door frames
2. Sill plates
3. Foundation czacks
4. Corners of b�ilding
5. Under door sills
6. Around all electrical & plumbing penetzations
7. All other potential infiltration areas
Use on1Y clear silicone caulk
Stuff sill area, under bottom most piece of siding, with fiberglass, foam sealant
or some type of void filler to impede infiltration.
Install outlet and switch plate insulators to all exterior wall outlets & switch
plates.

S-6 BUILDING EXTERIOR Roof
a. Remove old roofing down to bodre3s. Replace any rotting b�ards if needed.
Use 36",;�90P starter and SOk felt on balance. Reroof with 240h 3 tab seal
down shingles, ownezs choice of color. Use selvage edge roofing on flat
roof portion using manufactures recommended application. Use galvanized
metal on valleys. All roofing shall lap over edges 3/4 to 1 inch.
Replace any badly rusted plumbing vent jackets s roof louvers with new.
Add 2 additional roof louver vents to the top most part of nozth kneewall
area. Use plastic or aluminum vents with a free air capacity of at least
60 square inches. Choose color to best match shingles.

RF�RADING: Stove - Burning in Gazage.
On July 13, 1987, I received an anorymous oomplaint regarding burning in a
stove in the garage at t3�e abwe re�erence address. On August 17, 1987, I
inspected the stove with the assistance and cooperation of Mr. Edward
Halvorson, the resident and property o,arer. 1he stwe looked fine. It had
an exhaust pipe r�ning out of the back of the stove through an insulated
hole out of the gara9e.
I have determined that in the City of Fridle�, there are no prohibitions
against Mr. Halvorson burning only �per in his stove. I requested of Deputy
Fire C7�ief Disk Larson, that he go out and inspect. He stated that only the
hone a✓ner or their insurance company may request an inspection. I then
Fhoned the Halvorson's and spoke with Mrs. Halvorson. I told her that she
�uld have the stwe inspected if she wished just to make sure it was safe.
She said she was not ooncerred, and that her husband never left the stove
imattended while he was cioing his burning.
Should the garage or Mr Halvorson ever be harmed fran any future burning in
his garage I am confident that we have responded in a complete and
res�nsible maru�er.

The City of Fndley has completed the Riverciew Heights Improvement project. As part of that project, you agreed
to have your driveway paved by the City contractor. Per the agreement, you were to have escrowed funds for this work
with the City. In order to expedite construction, we did not hold you to that part of the agreement.
Please remit payment of S2,6�6.49 to [he City of Fridley by January 31, 2000 to cover the cos[ of your driveway
installation. After this date, a 5% administrative charge will be added to the cost and the total charges will be placed
on the ta7c roles to be assessed against your property at 7% interest for 5 years.
