BUILDING PERMIT FEE SCHEDULE
SECTION 2. The Inspector of Buildings shall, before issuing permits for the
erection of any building or structure, or for any addition to any existiag
building or structure, or for any alteration or repairs to any existing
building or structure, upon application therefore, require the payment by the
applicant for such pe�i.t of fees to the amount herein below set forth and in
the ma.n.ner herein pravided to-wit :
UIVTFORM BUILDING CODE: T�pe 1, 2& 4-$2.15 for each one thousand cubic
feet, or fraction thereof, in such cubical contents. �pe.3 & 5-$1.85 for
each one thousan.d cubic feet.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
For the purpose of computing fees for building permits, the cubical contents
of any building or addition, is determined by multiplying the ground area
covered from a point six (6) inches below the floor line of the basement
or the cellar to the average heights of the upper surface or to the average�
height of the roof surface of the main gable of a pitched roof.
For repairs or alterations to an existing structure, the fee shall be at the
rate of $3.00 per each five hundred d�llars ($500.00) or fraction thereof in
the cost of all proposed work.
In no case shall the fee charged for any permit as set forth in Section 2 be
less than $5.00.
VBRIFICATION OF FOUNDATION
NOTE: Permits for construction will be issued a miniaoum of 24 hours fram the
time of application, to allow for proper review of the proposed structure and
of the construction site.
A Certified Survey of the lot, showing the location of the foundation, once it
has been constructed, will be required before proceed n with the framiag.
CERTIFICATE.OF OCCUPANCY
Application for a Certificate of Occupancy shall be made ten (10) da,ys prior
to the use or occupancy of any structure for which a building permit has been
issued; and said structure shall not be used or occupied until a Certificate
of Occupancy has been issued. •

Re: Conversion of Ri.veYwood School to Elderly Housing
Dear Ms. Carlson:
We have oompleted a prelimi.nary review of the Rivexwood Elementary School,
7150 East River Road N.E., for th� purpose of determining what would have
to be done to the s.tructure to have it comply with the Building Oode.
The two areas of non-compliance are the a3�sence of one hour rated corridors
and the lack of area separation walls to divide the stxucture into areas
of 9.000 square feet or less. �
Alterations needed to meet the corridQr rating would be to install a
return air ventilation system, remove all glass from the corridor walls
or use wire glass, and install alosers on all doors leading into th.e
corridors.
T'here are two different ways the structure could �be made to comply with
the area limitations; either install four hour rated walls at 9,000
square foot 9nterva.ls, or install a f ire protection system throughout the
structure. The City would favor the fire protection system being
ins.talled. •
