SEC�ION 2. The Inspector of Buildings shall, beforo issuing permits for the erection
of any buildiny or structure, or for any addition to any existing building or structure,
or for any alteration or repairs to any existing building or structure, upon application
therefore, require the payment by the applicant for such permit of fees to the amount
herein below set forth and in the manner herein provided to-wit:
NEW CONSZ'RUCTION: Single Family Homes and Garages: $4.00/1,000 cubic fQet.
PLAN CHECK: 25 percent of building permit fee.
DRIVEWAY DEPRESSION: (Concrete G�srb Streets qnly)
Alternate A: Removal and replacement of concrete curb and .
gutter only; Driveway width plus 6 feet x$11.75
Alternate B: Removal and replacement of concrete curb and
' gutter and install a 3 foot wide approach with

For the purpose of computing fees for buil8ing permits, the cubical contents of any
building or addition, is determined by multiplying the grouncb area covered from a
point six (6) inches belaw the floor line of the basement or the cellar to the
average heights of the upper surface or to the average height of the roof surface
of the main gable of a pitched roof. .
I'or repairs or alterations to an existing structure, the fee shall be at the rate
of $3.00 pier each five hundred dollars ($500.00) or fraction thereof in the cost
of all proposed work. � .
In�no case shall the fee charged €or any permit as set forth in Section 2 be less
than $7.50 plus $.50 state surcharge.
' . . _VERIFICATIOV OF FOUNDATION
NOTE: Permits �or construction will be issued a minimum of 24 hours from the time
of application to allow for proper review of the proposed structure and of the
construction site. ,
A Certificate of Surve}• of the lot, sho��ing the location of the foundation once it
has been constructed will be required before proceeding with the framing.
CtRTIFICATE OF �CC PANCY
Application for a Certificate of Occupancy shall be made ten (10) days prior to the
use or occupancy of any structure for which a building permit has been issued; and
said structure shall not be used or occupied until a Certificate of Occupancy has
been issued. .

and Mr. Carl Norlander of the State Buil ding Code Division were there
to represent the 5ta.te, which was responsible for the f actory inspection.

This is to bring you up to date on the items discovered during
our joint inspection. For convenience the items will be iden-
tified by the item numbers of your`January 19, 1978 memo.
Items 1,2,7 and 13 have been reviewed and considered to be in
compliance with the code. The use of screws to fasten the
access doors to the furnace and water heater compartments is
an attempt, by Weston Homes, to prevent the use of the compart-
ments as storage areas. Item 7 was checked at the Weston plant,
and it was determined that the branch attachments were beaded
and crimped internally.
Items 4,5,9,11,12 and 15 are the result of on�-site activities
and are subject to the normal control exercised by the local
authority. These items were dicussed at the Weston plant to
illustrate your problems.
Items 6 and 14 have not been completely resolved. The method
of supplying combustion air to the factory installed furnace
has been referred to our Plan Review Section for review. The
engifleering section of Weston has submitted calculation just-
ifying the 3/4'� floor panel joist bearing at the center I beam,
however our review of the calculations has not been completed.
Your office would be justified in requiring that the 3/4" min-
imum bearing dimension be provided, without further review of
the calculations.
Item 8 requires that modifications be made to the upper portion
of the center bearing wall to carry loads to supporting members
at two door openings. Weston has revised their design to prevent
this occurrance in the future, and will work with their dealers
to correct the units in the field. The control of on-site

modification and corrections are subject to your acceptance or
approval, however, the Building Code Division will provide
assistance if you desire.

The lack of access (item 10) to �he water shut off valve in the
water heater compartment is a problem created by a change in
water heater design and the installation of a basement furnace.
Weston is investigating this problem, but assumes that the �a�er
heater in this house is to be moved to the basement, thus elimin-
ating the problem.
If you have any comments or corrections please call. The results
of our review of the combustion air supply and joist bearing items
will be forwarded as soon as possible.

'V�RIFICATION OF FOUNDATION
Permits for construction will be issued a minimum of 24 hours from the time of application to allow for proper
review of the proposed structure and of the constraction site.
A Certificate of Survey of the lot, showing the location of the foundation once it has it has been constructed will
