BUIL�ING PERMIT FEE SCHEDULE
SECTION 2. The Inspector of Buildings shall, before issuing permits for the
erection of any building or structure, or for any addition to any existing
building or structure, og for any alteration or repairs to any existing
building or structure, upon �.pplication therefore, require the payment by the
applicant foz such permit o� fees to the amount herein below set forth and in
the u�anner herein provided to-wit:
U1�iIFORri BUILDING CODEs Type 1, 2& 4-$2.15 for each one thousand cubic
feet, or fraction thereof, in such cubical contents. Type 3& 5-$1.85 for
each one thousand cubic feet.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
�or the puxpoee of computing fees for building permite, the cubical contents
of an�y building or addition, ia determined by �ultiplying the ground area
covered from a point six (6) inches below the floor line of the basement
or th,e cellar to the average heights of the upper surface or to the average
height of the roof surface of the main gable of a pitched roof.
For repaire or alterations to an existing structure, the fee shall be at the
rate af $3.00 ger each five hundred dollars ($500.00) or fraction thereof in
the cost of all proposed work.
Tn ao case shall the fee charged for any peamit as set fvrth in Section 2 be

SECTLON 2. The Inspector of Buildings shall, before issuing permits for the
erection of any building or structure, or for any addition to any existing
building or structure, or for any alteration or repairs to any e�:isting
bu3lding or structure, upon application therefore, require the paymenC by the
applicant for such permit of fees to the amount herein below set forth and in
the manner herein provided to-wit:

PLAN CHECK: 25 percent of building permit fee.
ADD I T I ONAL I NFORI�IAT I ON
For the purpose of computing fees for building permits, ihe cubical con�ents
of any building or addition, is determined Uy multiplying the ground area
covered from a point six (6) inches below the floor line of the basement
o� the cellar to the average heights of the upper surface or �o the average.:

For repairs or alterations to an existing structure, the fee shall be at the

VERIFICATION OF F011NDATION
NOTE: Permits for eonstruction will be issued a minimum of 24 hours from the

of the construction site.
A Certified Survey of the lot, showing the location of the foundation, once it
has been constructed, will be required before proceedin� with the framing.

Dear Sirs:
This letter is to make clear this department's requirements for the swi�►ing
pool construction at th.e above address.
l. As indicated, one (1) ski�er apProved by the National Sanitation
Foundation will be provided.
2. As indicated, two (2) inlets of approved design for fresh and/or
repurified water will be provided.
3. As indicated, a main drain of approved construction will be provided.
4. The filter and pump shall be approved by the N.S.F. and be of
sufficient capacity to provide a minimum turnover of at least two (2)
times in 24 hours. This department recommends a turnover rate of
6 - 8 hot�s .
5. A deck of at least three (3) feet wide, measured froan the pool waters
edge, shall be provided which extends completely around all private
residential pools. Above ground private residential pools may be
provided with decking of a mi.nimum size of 4 feet by 4 feet at pool
entry points and provided that such decking has the approval of the City.
6. The diving area will be acceptable provided there is no overhead
obs truc tion .
7. Fencing or other effective means including but not limited to walls
or buildings, acceptable to the City, shall be provided to positively
control all access to public and private residential swimming pools.
Fencing shall meet the following cxiteria:
(a) '�e fencing shall prevent the entrance of children and be without
hand or foot holds that would enable a�erson to climb over it.
(b) The fencing shall be at least 6 feet high and entrances shall be
equipped with self-closing and self-latching gatas capable of
being locked.
(a1 Self-closi.ng and self-latching devices shall be placed at the top
of the gate or otherwise inaccessible tA small children.
�d) The opening between the bottom of the fence and the ground or
other surface shall be not more than four inches.
8. An autosnata.c chlorinator should be provided with a suitable test kit.
9. All electsical and plinnbing installations shall be inspected and
approved by the City Insp�ction Departsnent.

10. All overhead electrical lines must be a minimum of lU feet hprizontally
fro�a the ,pool surface, and 18 feet straight line distance from the
waters edge. An alternative is to bury sai.d lines.
11. The pool fill s,pout must be protected by a vacuvm breaker or air-gapped.
12. Suitable safety equipment to include but not limited to a ring buoy
and rope that is 1�4 ta.mes the pool diameter, and shepherds crook pole
must be provided and maintained�with the pool at all times.
Furthermore, these and any other requir�nents must meet the provisions of
the Fridley Ci.ty Code, Section 115, S�vinzning Pools. The building pennit is
approved contingent on final inspections and a,pproval by the City.

Dear Ms. Kranel:
The City of Fridley has established a City Code for the purpose of promoting a pleasant
and attractive suburban environment. A recent inspection of the property at 8151 Fairmont
Circle N.E. revealed that not all Code requirements are presently being met. Listed below
is an item which does not comply with the City Code:
Fridley City Code requires that all solid waste mwst be kept in secured containers
stored in the side yard, rear yard, or garage. I observed five refuse containers in
the front yard that were overflowing with refuse. ,
2. Fridley City Code requires a fence surrounding any pool to be adequately and
securely constructed. The fence surrounding your in-ground pool is in extremely
poor condition and does not meet code requirements. You must empty the pool
immediately and repair the fence to mee# code standards..
Your prompt a#tention in correcting this situation would greatly assist us in helping make
Fridley a better place to live. An inspection will be conducted on or shortly after May 25,
1996, to determine compliance.
