that the storm sewe= ca�ch.basins in the ditch between your residence and
East Ri.ver Road are being used as a depository for used motor �il.
Not only is this ar. _.:ono*_uic�.111T unsound practice to waste a recyclable
proc��c�, but this s_�z-rn sewer will drain ihe oil into -�he Mississippi River
thereay compoundinc, =:e�problem, and contributing ta the overall degradation
of o� environment. �. more environmental3.y sound alternative is to bring
this oil to any ser-_ce station where it can be added. to similar oil for
eventual re-refining as�d. reus�.
Tt is our hope that this letter will clarify the Ci�ty`s posii:ion and will
convince anybody doing this �vasteful practice to go to the more economically
and enviranmentally sound practice mentioned above. Finally, the City is
extremely concerned about this harmful practice and will tike legal action
against those found continuinq ta dispose of waste oil in the storm sewer.

SECTION 2. The Inspector of Buildings shali, before issuing permits for the
erection of any building or structure, or fox any addition to any existing
building or structure, or for any alCeration or repairs to any existing
building or structure, upon application therefore, require the payment by the
applicant for such permit of fees to the amount herein below set forth and in
the manner herein provided to-wit:

PLAN CHECK: 25 percent of building permit fee.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Fox the purpose of computing fees for building permits, the cubical conten�s
ot any building'or addition, is dEtermined by multiplying the ground area
covered from a point six (6) inches below the floor line of the basement
or the cellar to the average heights of the upper surface or to the averager
height of the roof surface of the main gable of a pitched roof.
For repairs or alterations to a.n existing structure, the fee shall be at the
rate of $3.00 per each five hundred dollars ($500.00) or fraction thereof in
the cost of all proposed work.
In no case shall the fee charged for any pexmit as set forth in Section 2 be
less than $7.50.
1�ERIFICATION OF FOUNDATION
NOTE; Permits for eonstruction will be issued a minimum of 24 hours frozn the
time of application, to allow for proper review of the proposed structure and
of the construction site.
A Cextified Survey of the lot, showing the location of the foundation, once it
has been constructed, will be required before proceeding with the framing.
CERTIFICATE OF OCCUFANCY
Application for a Certificate of Occupancy shal�l be made ten (10) days prior
to the use or occupancy of any structure for which a building perniit has been
issued; and said structure shall not be used or occupied until a Certificate
of Occupancy has been issued.

A mechariical permit was'issued on March 27, 2001 to install a gas dryer at your address.
According to the 1991 Uniform Mechanical Code a final inspection shall be conducted on
the work authorized by t�is permit. As of this date the inspection has not been requested.
The permit fee that was paid covers the inspection to make sure the work was completed
according to the Codes. We will keep your permit open for another 30 days and if we do
not hear from you within this time to set up the inspection, we will mark the pernut "no
inspection called for by homeowner after notification" and take no further action.
