2.1. For aay auch permit for the erectioa of anq fire-proof bui].dfng, othes
than a garage� warehouse, £actory os �rain elevator. or for the erection o£
any fire-proof addition, for sim�tlar occupaacy, to any e$iating buildin�
shsll be 8t the r�te of $1.40 for eac�a one thousand cubic feet, os fsactioa

It was.brought to tn� City's atten�tion and verified by an on si�e inspection
that the storm sewer catch basins in the ditch between your residence and
Eas�t River Road are �eing used as a depository for used.motar oil.
No� only is this an �conomically unsound practice to waste a recyclable
product, but this s=�=-m sewer will drain the oil in�o the Mississippi. River
ther�by compounding =�e problem, and contributing to the overall degradatic►n
of o�:: environment. A more envixonmen�ally sound altemative is to bring
this oil ta any ser-�_ce station where it can be added. to similax oil for
even�ual re-refining and reuse.
It is our hope that this letter will clarify the City°s position and will
convince anybody doing this wasteful practice to go to th� more economically
and envisonmentally sound practice mentioned atmve. Finally, �he City is
extremely concerned about this harmful practice and will t,ike legal action
against those found continuing to dispose of waste oil in the•stoxm sewer.
