TO: Address File PW99-094 FROM: Jon H�kaas, Assistant Public Works Director DATE: April 29, 1999 SUBJECT: Curing Compound on Garage Siding The current owner of 5874 Hackmann Avenue, Mr. Robert Townsend, first contacted us on October 21, 1998 regarding curing compound over spray on his garage siding. Mr. Townsend claims that the spray was from when the concrete curb and gutter was installed on the Hackmann Area Improvement Project. Investigation showed that no other property on the project had this problem and that Mr. Townsend had contracted separately with the concrete company to have a concrete driveway installed. We must conclude that the curing compound on his garage siding was from the driveway installation and therefore, a private matter between Mr. Townsend and Halvorsen Concrete, the concrete contractor. This was told to Mr. Townsend during subsequent discussions on October 23, 1998 and November 2, 1998. Mr. Townsend claims that Halvorsen was unresponsive , other than saying that the compound should wash off with soap and water. This did not work but the scrubbing damaged the finish on the aluminum siding. Mr. Townsend contacted us again on April 27, 1999. and was again told that this was a privatematter between him and the contractor. JHH:cw �
