Subjec Sump Pump Discharge
Dear Resident:
.,,`
PW98-092
In conjunction wIth the replacement of the water line and the upgrade of Hackmann Avenue and
Hackrnann Circle, the Council authorized the placement of a sump pump discharge line wtthin the
projec This tine is installed to improve the esthetics, environment, investment and safety of the
neighborhood caused by the number of sump pumps that have been discharging onto the street
This sump pump line will allow residents the opportunity to discharge to a buried system which will
prevent the waer from recirculating into the homes and aliow for proper disposal into our storm
systern.
If you are interested in connecting to this discharge line, you need to contact the City Engineering
Department to identify the location and to have the connection inspected as well as payment of a
$200 connection fee. If you have any questions regarding th9s, please contact me at 572-3550.
Any sump pump discharges to the surface that can impact the integrity of the street and curb and
gutter system, must be rerouted to a underground system, either through existing drainage easements
or the sump pump collection line installed in this project. Your cooperation and consideration of the
remainder of the neighborhood is appreciated.
Sincerely,

Re: Connection to Sump Pump Discharge Line
Dear Mr. Haukaas:
As I have discussed with the City, I have connected the downspout that
formerly drained to my driveway and the drain tile from my retaining wall to
the sump pump discharge line in Hackmann Circle. In accordance with our
discussion, and the City's letter of May 12, 1998 (copy enclosed}, I remit a
check for $200 made out the City of Fridlep.
I understand that, having made the connection, if in the future I wish to
discharge a sump pump to my drain, there will be no additional charge.
I think you should know that the City made the experience of connecting to
the sump pump discharge line unpleasant, and I would not recommend it to
my neighbors.
If you have any questions, please call me at work: (952) 832-2731.
Sincerely,
James R, Lan e
