SECTION 2. The Inspector of Buildings sha11, before issuing permits for the
erection of any building of structure, or for any addition to any existing
building:or structure, or for any alteratioa or repairs to any existing building
or�str�icture, upon application therefore, require the payment by the applicant
for such permit of fees to the amount h�rein below set forth and in the manner
herein provided to-wit:
Ur..iform Building Code: Type 1,2, & 4- $1.75 for each one thousand cubic feet, or
fraction thereof, in such cubical contents. Type 3 F� 5-$1.50 for each
one thousand cubic feet.

For the purpose of computing fees �for building permits, the cubical contents of
any building or addition to a uniform height throughout by multipluing the ground
area covered from a point six (6) in.ches belo�•r the floor line of the basement or
cellar to the average height of the upper surface or to the average height of the
roof surface of the main gable of a pitched roof. _
For repairs or alterations to an existing Structure, the fee sha11 be at the
, rate of $3.00 per each Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) or fraction thereof
' in the cost of aIl proposed work.

In order to insure the quality of the residential rental housing Within
the City oP Fridley and to prevent its deterioration, the City Council
adopted a housing maintenance eode in March� 1976. As part of the City's
comprehensive housing program� aa on-site inspection Was conducted of the
above listed property on September 30, 1983.
The inspection on that date found the following list of deficiencies
which are in need of corrective action. Any repairs or improvements mu�t
be eompleted in a workmanship like manner. It is the City's hope that
similar or other deficieneies that r�ere not noted xill be corrected as
aeeded.

1. Clean and maintain the yard adjacent to the garage free of the
discarded tires� television, �ood chest, pallets� serap wood, pipes�
matress and miscellaneous refuse found stored there.
2. The exterior painted wood surfaees of the siding, Windoxs and trim
has ehipped aad flaked extensively and ia in need of a complete
refinishing.
3. Enelosed you Will find a copy of the State energy retrofitting
requirements that �ere adopted by reference by the Fridley City
Couneil in March, 1982. Please note that the ordinance reauires that
all exterior vindows,� doors. rim joists, ioints and utility oneninrrs
�g effectively caulked and rreatherstrinned to seal off drafts and
reduee energy losses. Ia addition, there are aia items that are
liated and that must be brought into complianee by July 1, 1983•
Although these are manditory requiremeats, it is the City's hope that
each property oxner Will realize that the money and energy savings
and the inereased comfort to the occupant, vould more than eompensate

� ,• for the eost of doing a permanent� quality job of retrofitting.

4. The electrical system for Lhe house and garage has several items that
Were not iastalled to tbe epecifications of the National Eleetrical
Code. The eatire electrical system must be brought iatc oomplianee
vith the Electrical Code and be inspected and approved iiq the City
Electrical Inspector.
5. Repair.and maintain the leaking Waste line for the bathroom sink.
6. Repair and maintain tbe leaking �ater lines by the furnace and the
laundry aink.
7. Repair and maintain the vater damaged eeiling in the kitehen.
8. Provide and maintain an oven that Works in the prescribed manner.
9. Provide and maintain an approved� hard xired products of eombustion
detector (amoke detector) in all hallvays leading to sleeping areas.
- For questions conceraing the type and location, please contact the
Fridley Fire Departmeat.
10. Repair and maintain the front door ao it opens easily.
11. Provide and maiatain an approved dead bolt lock for both entry doors
(aee enclosed statement).
The City must require you to correet the above listed items on or before
November 23, 1983 at xhich time a reinspection Will be conducted to
determine compliance. We are eonfident in your eooperatioa oa these
matters and if any questions or problems result Prom this letter, please
feel free to call on me at 571-3450.
Failure to abate these violations may result in this matter being turned
over to the City Prosecutor for his legal consideration.
