small buildings to be at least 3 feet from rear and side lot lines to comply with
City Code. �
Ma.rch 10, 1964; Letter to Libexty Mutal Company from Building Inspector stating we
could not forward copies of building permits for this address unless okayed by the
City Manager.
October 15, 1965: Letter to Building Inspector from owner's attorney stating owner
had been advised to clean area and keep it clean.
July 18, 1967: Letter to Building Inspecior fxom Ji.m Gibbs stating owner had been
sent a letter regarding an unprotected excavation at the rear of the property. Mr.
Gibbs asked Building Inspector to look into this and advise as to a solution to the
situation.
October 30, 1968: Letter to Mr. Dumphy, then owner, from Building Inspector stating
building had been condemned by City. ,
November 7, 1968: Letter to Mr. Dumphy from Building Inspector stating that unless
owner takes care of the situation, it would be referred to the City Attorney fox

had been taken care of. Building Inspector notified Mr. Gibbs nothing had been done.
January 27, 1969: Memo to Building Inspector from City Manager stating he had
received a complaint and wants to know what is being done. Buildi�g Inspector answered
that nothing had been done as yet but he wanted to offer the owner the choice of
i�ediate repair or demolition of same.
February 3, 1969: Memo to Building Inspection Department from City Manager stating
City Attorney needed more informa.tion on this and to work with City Attorn.ey uniil
condition is abated.
February 6, 1969: Hazardous Building Foxm filled out by Buildi.ng, Plumbing and
Electrical Inspectors.

Maxch�l9, 1969: Letter to City Manager fxom owner`s attornep which was the
Defendant's answex to the Complaint (City of Fridley vs Marroquin et al). The
attorney stated he had talked to Mr. Dumphy and advised him to correct the
situation and was inf ormed that�it would be taken care of.
April 21, 1969: Letter to City Manager front Mr. Dumphy`s attorney stati.ng
Mr. Du.mphy was ill and not able to.take care of his affairs, and he would
appxeciate holding up any action on this for a reasonable time.
April 29, 1969: Memo to City Attorney from Building Inspector asking for the
procedure to follow since receiving the letter dated April 2l, 1969. Memo
a.nswered by the City Attorney stating a court oxder would be ordered withi.n the
next 10 days and to withhold any further action until the court hearing.
June 12, 1969: Police Offense Report which stated a complaint had been received
on.kids playing in the houseo Police felt it is definitely a hazardous building
and something should be done about it without delay.
July 1, 1969: Letter to City Attorney from Building Official stating no progress
has occurred. �
August 22, 1969: Letter to Mr. Dumphy from Building Official stating the building
had been demolished but the basement was still open and hazardous and that there
wexe two sheds that should be either repaired or removed. �
Apri1 23, 1970: Memo to Assessor from Building Offical asking for Fee Owner
r or Contract For Deed holder on property. Answered memo stated LaVerne Ma.rroquin
was owner.
April 24, 1970: Letter to LaVerne Marroquin from Building Official asking to
have the basement filled in and the lot cleaned up and maintained.
Ma.y 6, 1970: Memo to City Engineer from City Manager stating Councilman Brieder
had received complaint ori property and would like to know what is being done about
it. Memo answered that let�er was written to owner on April 24, 1970 but as yet
no reply had been received.
Ma.y 12, 1970: Memo to City Engineer from City Manager asking for the status on
property. Memo answered that the City Attorney wanted to wait until May 29th and

The Chief Building Official shall, before issuing pernuts for the erection of any building or structure, or for any
addition to any existing building or structure, or for any alteration or repair to any existing building or
structure, upon application therefore, require the payment by the applicant for such permit of fees to the amount
herein below set forth and in the manner herein provided to-wit:
