Se�zion 2. The InspecCor of Buildinga shall, before issuiag any pea�mit for
s.h� erPct3on of any building or structure, or for any addition to any exist-
ix�� build3ng or sCructure, or for any alter�tions or repairs to any e:�is��.ng
building or sicructure, upon application therefor, require the payment by iche
applicant f.or such permit of fees te� the amount herein below set forth aad
in �he manner herein provided to-wit;
2.1. For any such permit for �he erection o.i any fire-proof buildin�, other
th�n a garage� warehouse, factory or grain elevator, or for the erection of
aay fire-proof addition, for similar occupaacy, to any existing buildiz��
shall be at the rate of $1.G0 for each one thousand cubic feet, or fractiea
thereof, in such cubical contents.
2.2. For any such permit for the erection of any fire-proof garage, warehouse_g
factory or grain elevator, or for the erection of any fire-proof ac�ditiQn,
for similar occupaacy, to any exist3ng building shall be at the rate of �"�.25
�or each one thousand cubic feet, classified as °1fireproof" by Section 502 of
t�e Minneapolia Buildiag Code.

2.3. For any such permit for the erection of any non-fireproof building other
than a garage, warehouse, factory or grain elevator, or any non-fireproof
addition, for similar occupancy, to any existiag t�uilding - permit $1.00 for
each one thousand cubic feet.

2.L�. For any such permit for the erection of any aon-fireproof garage,
��Grehouse, factory or grain elevator, or for the erection of any non-fi.re�roo�
addit�on, £or e3milar occupancy, to any existing building or for each such
t�uilding or addition - nineCy cents ($0.90) for each one thousand cubic feet
or fr.action thereof, in the cubical cantents thereof with a minimum of $4.00.
Fmr the purpose of compu�iag £ees for building parmits, the cubical contents
of aza.y building or addition �o a uniform height throughout by mult3.plying the
g�ound area covered from a point six (6) inches below the floor line of ttne
basement o� cellar to the average height of the upper sarface or to the
ave�age height of the roof surface of the main gable of a pitched roof.
2.5. For repa3rs or alterationa to an exis�ing structure, the fee shall be
a� tche rate o£ $3.00 per each Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) or fract�on
thereo£ ia the cost of all propoaed work. .
2.6. In no case shall the fee charged for anp permit as set forth in
Section 2 be lesa than $4.00.

Dear Mr. Deitz:
This is to clarify and verifq the City's position on the City�s noise
ordinance as it pertains to placement of window or central air
eonditioners in side yards. A eopy of the Ordinance is enclosed for
your reference.
Please note that if the side qard is the location desired for the sir
conditioner, a homeowner must obtain a permit to install the unit. The
City will not issue the permit until the neighbor has signed a vritten
statement Which indicates their agreement to the side qard location of
��; the air conditioner.

velocity, etc., in an elastie or partially elastic medium. or the
superposition of such propagated alterations.
11. Sound Pressure Level (SPL).
20 times the logarithm to the base 10 of the ratio of the pressure of a
sound, p� to the reference pressure, Pr. For the purposes of these
regulations, the reference pressure shall be 20 micronewtons per square
meter (20 u N/m2 ). In equation form, Sound Pressure Level in units of

1. The sound level requirements oP this section shall apply at the
property or zoning lines of the sound receiving unit. Measurements may be
made at any location on the property for evaluation purposes and to aid in
the enforcement of other sections of this Chapter.
2. The sound levels as stated below shall be the highest sound levels
permitted in each of the zoning districts as defined in Chapter 205 of the
Fridley Code.
