Dear Mr. Rose:
Thank you for bringing it to the attention of the city about your concerns regarding a
large tree on neighboring property, 8151 Riverview Terrace, Fridley. "
Dave Lindquist, City Forester, inspected the tree in November 2003. At that time, Mr.
Lindquist had no concerns regarding the health of the tree. The tree is old and very large.
Since the tree appears to be healthy, the age and size of the tree is not reasoning enough
to remove it from the site.
No further action will be taken at this time.

these types of trees may cause property damage and possibly
personal injury if the home owner intentionally disregards or
neglects to correct a hazardous situatian. In fact I believe
that these types of trees are a public nuisance because whoever
maintains or permits a condition that unreasonably annoys,
injures or endangers the safety, health, comfort or repose of
any considerable number of inembers of the public (City Code 110).
It is very unclear to me who decides if the tree is Dead,
Diseased or Rotting.
My concern is that I have a very large Elm Tree next to my
detached garage. In 1996 a large section of this tree fell
down. It fell over at the base of the tree and the portion
that fell was approxmmately 3' in diameter. It was very obvious
to me that this portion of the tree had rotted away.
I believe this tree is rotting because several branches
appear to be dead and it may also be diseased. I,m.putting my
complaint in writing because I am very concerned that this
tree will fall down and cause sever property damage and/or
possible injury to any person in the immediate area.
My neighbvr Deloris Schneppmueller (8151 Riverwiew Terrace)
owns the property where this tree is located and I have made her
aware of this dangerous situation but she choses-to neglect
her responsibilities as a home owner.
I`.m requesting that you take action in order to prevent any
future property damage, personal injury or loss of life.

Subject: Tree inspection of Elm at 8151 Riverview Terrace
I inspected an Elm tree at 8151 Riverview Terrace as you requested and found the following conditions:
The Elm in question has grown many years adjacent to a garage belonging to the property owner of 695 Hugo Street and is touching
the facial of the garage on the west side. There is no evidence of any dead or weakened portion of the tree at this time, but this does
not warrant the trees condition to state that it will not now or ever cause any damage to any of the property that it is growing over.
There are too many variable factors involved to make that type of warranty.
The Elm is rather large and is growing over the top of the entire garage structure. Given the right weather conditions, portions of this
tree could let loose and fall on the structure below.
I would recommend at this time that the home owners of both properties talk befinreen themselves and cooperate on having the tree
removed. Technically, this tree would be considered a property line tree and would be considered belonging to both property
owners. Given the trees proximity to the garage, it is a matter of a few more years and the tree will begin to damage the garage
structure by growing into it.
