SECTION 2. The Inapector of Buildings sha11, before issuing aay permit for
the erection of any buildiag or at�ucture�y� or for'�a�y addition ta any existin�
building or a�tructure, or for any alterations or repairs to any eacisCing
building or atructure, upon application therefore, require the pa�meat by the
applicant for such.p�rmit.of feee to the amount herein bslow set forth and i�s .
the manner herein provided to•wit;
�2�.1_. For anq such permit for the erection of�any fire-proof building,
othei than a garage, warehouae, factox"y-or �r$in`elevator, or for the eraction
of anq fire-proaf addition, for similar occupancy, to any esiating buildin�,
shall be at the.rate of $1.4.0 for.each one thousand cubic feet, or fraction
thereof, in such cubical contents. �

� � ° BUILDING PERMIT FEE SCHEDULE
SECTION 2. The Inspector of Buildings shall, before issuing pexmits for the
erection of any building or structure, or for aay addition to any existing
building or structure, or for any alteration or repairs to any existing
building or structure, upon application therefore, require the payment by the
applicant for such permit of fees to the amount herein below set forth and in
the manner herein pravided to-wit:
UNIFORM BUILDING CODE: Type 1, 2& 4-$2.15 for each one thousand cubic
feet, or fxaction thereof, in such cubical contents. Type 3� 5-$1.85 for
each one thousand cubic feet.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
For the purpose of computing fees for building pexmits, the cubical contents
of any building or addition, is determined by multiplying the ground area
covered from a point six (6) inches below the floor line of the basement
or the cellar to the average heights of the upper surface or to the average.*
height of the roof aurface of the main gable of a pitched roof.
For repairs or alterations to an existing structure, the fee shall be at the
rate of $3.00 per each five hundred dollars ($500.00) or fraction thereof in
the cost of all proposed work.
In no case shall the fee chaxged for any pern►it as set forth in Section 2 be
lesa than $5.00.
VERIFICATION OF FOUNDATION
NOTE: Permits for construction will be issued a minimum of 24 hours from the
time of application, to allow for proper review of the proposed structure and
of the construction site.
A Certified Survey of the lot, showing the location of the foundation, once it
hae been constructed, will be required before nroceediag with the framing.
CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY
Application for a Certificate of Occupancy shall be made ten (10) days prior
to the use or occupancy of any structure for which a building pextnit has been
issued; and said structure shall not be used or occup3ed until a Certificate
of Occupancy has been isaued. -

This letter is in response to your letter dated July 12, 1983, in
regards to the closure of Jackson Street at the 73rd Avenue Intersection.
Jackson Street is one of the two direct access routes servicing the
Melody Manor and Shaffers addition residential areas. This access is
necessary for police, fire, medical, and civil emergencies.
I.too am concerned about the children and their safety, that is why
this street must remain open and accessible to insure that emergency
services are available to all the children, adults and seniors residing
in this portion of the city.
Thank you for your interest and concern, and I am sorry that I
cannot favorably consider your request. If there is any additional
information pertaining to this or any other related matter that I can

Dear Mr. Flora:
I am writing to you to request that the intersection at 73rd Avenue
N.E. and Jackson Street N.E. be closed and perhaps rerouted to the Madson
park area.
On Monday, July 11, 1983, I spoke with a gentleman at the city office
stating that the traffic at this intersection is beccaming excessive
and �;',s a real danger for the many children. I, myself live at the above
address and have two children, ages 4 and 5. The cars turning ofr 73rd
on to Jackson are usually coming at a speed of 40 MPH and it is difficult
to see children, partly because of the frontage road.
We were further informed that the land for sale on 73rd Avenue is zoned
industrial and, I am sure, will make the traffic there even more of
a problem. The noise from the trucks on 73rd is something that we are
trying to learn to live with; however, the danger to my children and
other children in the neighborhood can not be overlooked.
If a petition is required, I would be more than happy to take an active
part in this or whatever it would entail to secure the safety of the
children.
I feel the boulevard could easily be extended on 73rd and if necessary,
an intersection made at the Ma.dsen Park parking lot area so as to allow
cars to enter the park and also the church.

Dear Sira:
This letter ia to make clear this department�a requirements for the
sximming pool constructioa at the above address.
1. As indicated, one (1) skimmer approved bq the National Sanitation
Foundation t�ill be provided.
2. As indicated� Lwo (2) inleta oP approved design for fresh and/or
repurified xater Will be provided.
3. As indicated, a main draia of approved construction will be
provided.
4. The filter and pump shall be approved by the N.S.F. and be of
sufficient capacity to provide a minimum turnover of at least two (2)
times in 24 hours. This department recommends a turnover rate of 6- 8
hours.
5. A deck of at least three (3) feei �ide� measured from the pool
Waters edge� shall be provided xhich extends completely around all
private residential pools. Above ground private residential pools may
be provided With deckiag of a minimum size of u feet by 4 feet at pool
entry points and provided that such decking has the approval of the
City.
6. Fencing or other efPective means including but aot limited to valls
or buildings, acceptable to the City, ahall be provided to positively
control all access to public and private residential aWimming pools.
Fencing shall meet the folloWing criteria:
(a) The fencing ahall prevent the entrance oP children and be
vithou� hand or Poot holds that would enable a person to climb over
it. '
(b) The fencing sball b� at le�t 6 feet high and entrances shall be
equipped vith self-closing and selP-latching gates capable of beiag
locked.
(c) Self-closing and aelf-latching devices shall be plaeed at the
top of the gate or otherr►ise inaccessible to small children.
(d) Tbe opening Det�eea the bottom of the fence and the ground or
other surface ahall be not mare than four inches.

7. An automatie ehlorinator should be provided with a suitable test kit.
8. Al1 eleetrical and plumbing installations shall be inspected and
approved by the City Inspection Department.
9. All overhead electrical lines must be a minimum of 10 feet
horizontally from the pool surfaae, and 18 feet straight line distanee
from the waters edge. An alternative is to bury said lines.
10. The pool fill spout must be protected bg a vacuum breaker or
air-gapped.
11. Suitable saPety equipment to inelude but not limited to a ring buoy
and rope that is 1-7/2 times the pool diameter and shepherds crook pole
must be provided aad maintained w3th the pool at all times.
Furthermore, these and any other requirements must meet the provisions of
the Fridley City Code, Section 115, Swimm3ng Pools. The building permit
is approved eontin�ent on final inspeetions and approval of the Citq.
