Typically, rain gutters are attached to the fascia leaving a space between the rain gutter and fascia. If the shingles do not extend beyond the edge of the fascia, the water will follow the shingle and run down the fascia. With a formed combination rain gutter/flashing, the shingles are typically instal led f lush to just beyond the edge of the fornEed rain gutter.
