BUILDING PEP,NQT FEE SCHEDULE
Section 2. The Inspector of Buildings shall, before iasuing any permit for
the erection of any building or structure, or for any addition Co any �xiet-
ing building or structu�e, or for any alterations or repairs to any esisting
building or atructure, upoa application therefor, require the payment by ehe
applicant for such permit of fees tv the amount herein below set forth and
in the maaner herein prov3ded to-wit: .
2.1. For any such permit for the erection of any fire-proof building, other
than a garage� warehouse, factory or grain eleeator, or for the erection of
aay fire-proof additiou, for similar occupaacy, to any existing building
sha11 be at the rate of $1.40 for each oae thousand cubic feet, or fractioa
thereof, in such cubical contenCs.
2.2. For any auch permit for the erecCioa of any fire-proof garage, warehouse,�
f�ctory or grain elevator, or for tbe erection of any fire-proof addition,
for similar eccupancy,.to sny exieting buildiag shall be at the raCe of $1.25
for each one thousand cubi,c feet, classified as "fireproof" bp Section 502 of
the Minaeapolis Suilding Code. � �

than a garage, warehouse, factorq or grain elevatoi, or any aon-fireprvof�
addition, for similar occupancy, to any exietiag buildiag - permit $1.00 for
each one thousand cubic feet.

2.4. For any such permit for the erectioa of anq non-fireproof garage, .-
warehouse, factory or grain elevator, or for the erection of any non-fire�toof�
add�-tioa, -€or--s3milar occupancy, Co anp existing building or for each such
____ -building or addition - aiaeeq cents ($0.90) for each one thousand cubic feet
or fraet3on thereof, in the cubical coatents thereof with a minimum of $4.00.-
For the purpose of camputiag fees for building permiLts, the cubical conteats
of any buildiag or additioa to a uniform height through�t by �ltiplying th.e
ground area covered from a point si$ (6) faches below the floo� line of the
basEment or ce11a� to the average height of the upper surface or to the
average height of the r�of aurface of the main gable of a pitched roof.
2.5. For repairs or alCerationa to an exiatiag structu�ce, the fee shall be
at the rate of $3.00 per each Five Huadred Dollars ($500.00) or fractioa
Chereof in the cost of a11 proposed work. �

Enforcement Division, has recently initiated an administrative
disciplinary action against the residential.remodeler license of
Classic Home Improvement.
An investigation was conducted and on September 29, 1993, a Cease
and Desist Order and Notice of Right to Hearing was issued to
Classic Home Improvement. A copy of the Order is attached for your
review. The Respondent did not request a hearing within the
required time period. Therefore, the Cease and Desist Order
remains in effect until compliance with the law has been achieved
by the Respondent.

ORDER AND NOTICE
OF RIGHT TO HEARING
Commissioner of Commerce James E. Ulland (hereinafter "Commissioner") has
determined as follows:
1. Handyman Helpers Plus, Inc. , d/b/a Classic Home Improvement
(hereinafter "Respondent") is a licensed residential remodeler pursuant to Minn. Stat.
§§ 326.83-326.991 (1992).
2. Residential remodelers licensed under Minn. Stat. §§ 326.83-326.991
(1992) must post a bond with the Commissioner which bond must be continuous and
maintained for so long as the licensee remains licensed as required by Minn. Stat. § 326.94,
subd. 1(a) (1992).
3. The bond that Respondent posted with the Commissioner was canceled on
August 26, 1993 and has not been replaced with a current bond. Therefore, Respondent has

not continuously maintained a bond as required by Minn. Stat. § 326.94, subd. 1(a) (1992),
nor is Respondent exempt from said bonding requirement.
4. Respondent, by the above conduct, has violated the provisions of
Minn. Stat. §§ 326.83-326.991 (1992) and should, therefore, be ordered to cease and desist
from further violations thereof.
5. The following Order is in the public interest.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED, pursuant to Minn. Stat.
§ 45.027, subd. 5(1992), that Respondent Handyman Helpers Plus, Inc., d/b/a Classic Home
Improvement shall cease and desist from engaging in the work of a residential reYnodeler in the

Dear Ms. Hintz:
This is to confirm our conversation of this morning regarding the
above mentioned contractor. As you know, the surety bond for
Classic Home Improvements was canceled, and on 9/29/93 a Cease and
Desist Order was issued. On this date the Residential Building
Contractor License became inactive, and will remain in this status
until a replacement bond is received by this Department.
Classic Home Improvements is currently in the middle of a
remodeling job for Stan and Pat Barone at 686 Kimball Street N.E.
in Fridley. The Barone's were contacted on 10/21/93, and notified
of the bond cancellation and the Cease and Desist Order. In
addition, they were informed that the decision to allow the work to
be completed was up to them, based on the new information they
received on Classic's licensing status.
I asked the Barone' s to notify me writing as to whether or not they
wanted the work to continue. On the afternoon of 10/21/93 I
received a fax from Stan Barone requesting the Depart�nent's
approval for construction to continue. This letter also stated
that they were fully aware that Classic Home Improvement was not
licensed ar bonded.
In response to the ho�eowner's request, I contacted you this
morning to ask that the_stop order on the Barone house be lifted.
The other property on which CTassic is working, 61 - 67th Street,
should continue to have a stop order in effect until the time that
the homeowners are contacted about this situation.
