as adopted by the City of Fridley and the State of Minnesota:
*Minnesota State Buildi.ng Code adopted by reference the following codes;
a. The 1988 Edition of the Uniform Building Cade identified as the UBC
and the State Building Code amendments to the UBC.
b. The 1994 National Electrical Code identified as NEC.
*The Minnesota State Building Code Chapter 1346 known as the Uniform
Mechanical Code as promulgated by the International Conference of
Buildinq Officials and as amended by Rules 1346.005 through 1346.2600.
*The Uniform Fire Code referenced by the 1991 Edition with State Rules
and Regulations of the Department of Fire Safety, Fire Marshal's
Division, Chapter 7510.3290 to 7510.9985.
*Minnesota Energy Code Chapter 7670.
*Minnesota State Plumbing Code Chapter 4715.
*Sound Transmission Control Appendix Chapter 35.

responsibility to retain the plans at the location. Also, the responsibility
for the design of the structural features shall be assumed by the project
designer. Approval is contingent upon satisfactory disposition of any

*Classification UBC 402 Residential Condominiums.
*�ype of construction, UBC 1201, Division 1, R-1.

*UBC 1202 (b) Special Provisions- Walls and floors separating dwelling
units in the same building shall be not less than one-hour fire
resistive construction.
*R-1 Division 1 Occupancies having more than 3000 square feet of floor
area shall be of not less than one-hour fire resistive construction.
*UBC 1204 Exits and Emergency Escapes- Basements in dwelling units or
lower level and sleeping rooms shall have at least one openable window
or door approved for emergency escape or rescue which shall open
directly into a public street, alley, yard or exit court. Al1 escape or
rescue windows shall have a minimum net clear openable area of 5.7
square feet and the top of finished sill shall be no more than 44 inches
above the floor.
*UBC 1205(b) Light- Habitable rooms shall be provided with natural
ventilation openable exterior opening with area of not less than one
twentieth of the floor area of the room with a minimum of 5 square feet.
*UBC 1210- Smoke Detectors shall receive their primary power from the
building wiring.
*UBC 1212 Heating- All habitab�e areas shall be provided with heating
�facilities capable of maintaining a room temperature of 70 degrees at a
point 3 feet above the floor.
*UMC 702- Room or space for heating equipment shall be provided with
combustion air.
*UBC Table No. 5B- Required separation in buildings of mixed occupancy,
Group M occupancies Garages, Group R occupancies Residential, shall be
one hour ceiling and all supporting walls.
*UBC 503- Provide an approved door assembly self-closing from garage
into living area.
*Garage Ceiling/Walls- Provide the minimum of 2 layers of 5/8 inch
gypsum board on ceiling and the minimum of one layer of 5/8 inch on all
supporting walls.
*UBC 32 Tabie No. 32.B1- Provide the minimum of two layers of
nonperforated Type 15, solid cemented together, applied shingle fashion
to extend 24 inches beyond exterior wall line or .ice shield.
*UBC Table 32A- Minimum roof class covering of Class B roofing material.

floor and ceiling.
*UBC Chapter 70 Excavation and Grading- All grading shall comply with
engineer report to control erosion, setbacks, drainage and slope of fill
surfaces shall be no steeper than the stability of the slope and safe
for its intended use.
*UBC Chapter 35 Sound Transmission Control- All separating walls and
floor-ceiling assemblies are required to meet a minimum STC of 50.
*UBC 2907- Anchor bolts, 7 inches embedded 12 inches from end.
*Manufactured fZoor trusse� as per their installation, squash blocks on
joist at cantilever.
*UBC 1205(c)- Mechanical ventilation in bathrooms.
*UBC 121Q- Smoke detectors shall be interconnected.
*UBC 1204- Egress windows, the minimum of 5.7 square feet of elear,
openable area, top of finished sill not more than 44 inches off the
f loor .
*UBC 1711 Guardrails Required- Galvanized egress well which are more
than 30 inches below grade.
*UBC Chapter 30 Veneer- Attached veneer designed to provide for
differential movement.
*UBC 2516 F-D- Fire and draft stops in openings around vents, pipes,
ducts, chimneys, fireplaces and openings which afford a passage for fire
at ceilings and floor levels.

*UBC 2516(f)2,B-Fire and draft stops at all interconnections between
concealed vertical and horizontal spaces as occur at sof�its, ceilings
and floor levels, 10 foot intervals, drop ceilings, and cove ceilings.

*UBC 3306- Handrails shall be placed not less than 34 inches nor more
than 38 inches above the nosing of treads and shall be continuous - ends
