March 30, 1964
Mr. Glenn W. 4'hompson, Chairman
Parks and Playgrounds Sub-committee
City of Fridley \ :
6431 University Avenue Northeast
Fridley, Minnesota 55421
Dear Sir:
Enclosed is a copy of a letter received by the Fridley
Recreation Commission from one of its members, Mr. John Dunphy.
At the meeting of Monday, March 23, 1964, the Commission re-
quested the Secretary to contact your committee to determine
your interest in providing the facllity for such a speed skating
activity.
The facility as specified in the letter would consist of
an ice area on which a 400 meter Olympic ice skating course could
be maintained. The maintenance would include keeping the track
area free of snow, a smooth, crack-free surface maintained that
way even with the wear occasioned by speed skating.
It is suggested that your interest in this facility be
communicated to the Recreation Commission through our represent-
ative on your Sub-committee, Mr. Robert Aughes.
Yours truly,
,.
EPP/gs Ernest P. Powell
