'\ The Fridley Recreation Association sponsored a year
4,4fty round program in 1958. During the summer, weed-control, beach improve-
'At sant and regular lifeguards permitted Moore Lake to be used for
Q'e swimming. Attendance reached several hundred.on weekends during bot
weather. For seven weeks, beginning June 16, two (2) instructors
were on duty at Hayes Setool, five days a week, providing a program
including archery, dramatics, girls softball, arts and crafts. This
part of the Dragomans conducted with the help of the Suburban
Recreation Association. Two hundred children were registered.

one junior team of 13 - 15 year old boys. This part of the program

included improvaaaents made on several baseball diamonds.
; The teen - age program, held during the school
R:5 - year consisted of dances, swimming and roller skating parties and
gams nights. These were held on Saturday nights, Sub - teen
dances were held on alternate Friday nights.
Oa. 3 During the school year basketball games were held
on Thursday nights and Saturday mornings. There were two instructors
4 for_ the boys and one for the girls. The Thursday programs were
71 ' School boys one week, and for High School girls the following.
fr The Saturday morning programs were for the 9 - 13 year age group.
Arrangements were made for the teen basketball groups to participate
in inter is urban events.
%. • The'1958 program showed growth over the 1957
program and tbs response of the young people indicated the need
for further development of community recreation.
