RESOLUTION APPROVING A COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENT,CPA#02-01,TO
CHANGE LAND USE DESIGNATION FROM PUBLIC/SEMI-PUBLIC TO MULTI-FAMILY
RESIDENTIAL IN THE CITY'S COMPREHENSIVE PLAN,GENERALLY LOCATED AT 6160
FIFTH STREET NE.
WHEREAS,the Planning Commission held a public hearing on the Comprehensive Plan Amendment,
CPA#02-01, on September 4, 2002,and recommended approval; and
WHEREAS, the City Council also conducted a public review of the Comprehensive Plan Amendment at
their September 23, 2002,City Council meeting and approved the amendment at their October 14,2002,
meeting; and
WHEREAS,the Metropolitan Land Planning Act(Minn. Stat.473.851 —473.872)requires that local
government units prepare and submit minor amendments to their Comprehensive Plan to the Metropolitan
Council; and
WHEREAS, a minor amendment is defined as changes to the future land use plan where the affected area
is small or where the proposed future land use will result in minor changed in metropolitan urban service
demand: changes in the urban service area involving less than 40 acres; change to plan goals and policies
that do not change the overall thrust of the Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS,the City has determined this to be a minor amendment.
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,that the City Council of the City of Fridley hereby approves
the Comprehensive Plan Amendment, CPA#02-01.
