Visitors Section.
Innsbroo AIorth Park - Richard & Karen Petersan were present ta di.scuss the Parks
situatiort in Innsbrook North area. The Peierson�s repre�ented a speeial int.erest
graup from the area. They presented to the Commission the3.r interest in the area.
�'hey asked questions about Frhat and when �evelopment of the park areas would be
completed. Mr. Peterson and Commissio� members r•eniewd t��hat is on the site and
what is pl�.nned for the future, Qu.estions were asked abaut facilities, the land,
a�d what happens if the project should stop? Commissiop stateatYzat the �ity would
hav�e plans and developmeqt of the area, ev�an if the project would fail. The
Commission feels that the dev�loper will fulfill his obli.gation to �he citizens
and the project will be completed as outLined. It was suggested ta the Peterson�s
thay they attend a r'ridley� Planning Commission meeting in the future and abtain
ad.ditiopal detail also.
Survey Study.
Ramona R.i.dig, was introduced to Commissian membership by Jim West of Pla nning Depart-
ment, as survey intern� in our newly devel�Yed city wide stxrvey as outlined a.nd re-
^ quested iq previous meetings. Cammission reviev�red with RamQna and Jira the objective
of the survey. They rel.ated the survey to the overall comprehensive parl�.s anci
recreation plan. A quick review and. sun,mary of what the sux�vey will aeca�np�a.sh was
presented. Commission asked questions as to the final. results an� �;rhat the survey
will show us. The goals of the survey wer� re�i.ewed iq detai.l. Jim will be mailino
the Commission all printed informatian to date on this subject. The pro�rara is
scheduled for 10 weeks. Help will be co:ning from various civic groups. It was pointed
out that it is difficult to start once we have the foundatiart though, it �aill be
easier in the future ta make this survey an annual event.

Mirrates of ths Ma,�r 20th Meetiri�.
A correction was noted on page l�. Motion by Harris, Seconded b�r .•.'agar to approve the
mirrutes of the Parks and Recreation Commission Me�ting, dated May 20, 1972t. The Ma':ion
carried.
�ridley Jubilee Report.
Paul Brawn� Director,and D�ve Harris, gave a short report an the 2��h Anniversary Jubilee
week of events. Many activities were handled with the use af Park property playir�g a
large part. Overall� the week was very successful with very fe�r problems.
Fencing of North Park.
Letters i�ere received from the Springbroott iVature Center Faunda�ion and th� University
of riinnesota. �ey mentioned concern ocer idorth rark and t.he fencing of certain
portions in order to keep out motorized vehicles. The letters su��ested that the
department fence certain areas withit� i�torth Park to prevent thi.s type of traffic.
� Commission advi.sed the department to cooperate with the suggestions and he�.g prevent
- this potential damage to the area.
Softball Tournament - Church Type.
A permit was submitted for approval by Rich Peterson of the �'ridl.�g GQV�nant Athietic
Association for use of Commons Par k for a one day tournament on July Z3th with a rain
date of July 27th. The permit was approved by the Comr,iission. Per�mit wiil 6e OKed.

Commission discussed possible problems of control of B�er drintcing in the parks. General.
n review.of the situation followed. No specific recommerz�'ation was made at this time.
Name Park.
The Commission was asked for suggestions for naming the park property in Hamilton�s
Addition. Motion by 4Jagar, seconded by Harris,to have the summer playgraurtd p�ragrsm
offer a Name the Park Contest with final recommen�ations as io the n�me of the park
to be approi�ed at a fliture m�eting this summer. The Motion carried .
Altura Park Fence Pro�ect.
There have been no r•esults to date in respect to the request for a fence along the
south boundary of the park. Bids were received by the department and forc�arfled fi.o
the home owner for his choice. No decisi.on.
Commons #1 Fence Pro�ect.
Bids have been received and will go to the City C�upcil for approvaZ on July lst.
Goof & Golf Day.
Dave Harris mentioned the Chamber of Cammerce Goof & Golf I�ay eoming up on August
22nd. Mr. Harris wanted to let the commission knor�r af fhe event and hoped that
some members of the City Administration will take part in the event this year.
Cost is $12.�0 for golf and dinn�r and �6.50 just for dinner. More information
will be coming out on this from the Chamber offfice.
Tree Preservation Ordinance.
Commission received eopies of the statement presentea to �he City Council on April
n 22nd, Subject: Resgonse to pr��osed Alternative Tree Preservation Ctrdinance.
Co mission members stated that they fel� some of the remarks in the statement were
incorrect. Trees have not been removed frorn City Parks at will. The Commission
felt that a statement from the Cornmission to the City Council was in order. 2�io �ion
by Harris� Seconded by ,Javar� to prepare a statement on Tree Preservation Ordinance
from the membership of the Commission in answer to the statement from the Petition
Spot�sors. The Motion carried.
