RESOLUTION NO. 26 - 1996
RESOLUTION ORDERING IMPROVEMENT AND FINAL PLANS FOR
LOCKE LAKE EXCAVATION PROJECT NO. 255
WHEREAS, a petition was received from the residents on February 26, 1996, and
WHEREAS, their petition requests that Locke Lake excavation be expedited, and
WHEREAS, the petition establishes an equal assessment for the $54,000 mediated
settlement to the abutting lake properties over a 10 year period, and
WHEREAS, their petition also waives their right for a notice for a public
hearing on this improvement, and
WHEREAS, the City Council held a public hearing on this project on February 26,
1996, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined a need to reduce sediment from Locke
Lake to maintain it in a safe condition and at a reasonable cost, and
WHEREAS, the Rice Creek Watershed District has agreed to initiate a project to
remove sediment from Locke Lake.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT, the City Council of the City of Fridley,
Anoka County, Minnesota, as follows:
1. That the following improvements proposed by Petitions No. 3 - 1996 and 4 -
1996 are hereby ordered to be effected and completed as soon as reasonably
possible, to wit:
Locke Lake excavation including excavation, grading, shaping, hauling,
stabilized base, hot-mix bituminous mat, storm sewer system, landscaping,
and other facilities.
2. That the following project be incorporated in the 1996 Storm Water
Improvement Project, as:
LOCKE LAKE EXCAVATION PROJECT NO. 255, and
STONYBROOK CREEK BANK STABILIZATION PROJECT NO. 246
3. That the work to be performed under this project may be performed under
one or more contracts as may be deemed advisable upon receipt of bids.
4. That the Public Works Director, John G. Flora, City Hall, Fridley,
Minnesota, is hereby designated as the Engineer for this improvement. He
shall coordinate with the Rice Creek Watershed District on the preparation
of final plans and specifications for the making of such improvements.
