CANVASS REPORT OF GENERAL ELECTION NOVEMBER 6, 2012
NOVEMBER 9, 2012
A General Election was held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, for the offices of Mayor and
Councilmember at Large. Attachment 1 is the Statement of Canvass for this election. State Law
requires the City Council to canvass the results of the primary between 3 and 10 days after the
election. The Canvas Board Report includes the total number of ballots cast in the City for this
election, the total number of votes for each candidate, a true copy of the ballot, and the names of
the election judges as required.
There were a total number of 14,972 registered voters at 7:00 a.m. and 3,140 Election Day
registrations for a total of 18,112 registered voters. Of those registered voters, 14,356 cast a
ballot in the City thereby giving the City a voter turnout of 79%, which is 3% higher than the
statewide average.
For the office of Mayor, Scott Lund ran unopposed. Lund received 9,972 votes. There were 258
write-in votes and 4,126 blank votes. Scott Lund is the official winner of this race.
For the office of Councilmember at Large, Bob Barnette received 5,717 votes and Rick Wolfe
received 4,981 votes. There were 91 write-in votes, 3,566 blank votes, and 1 over vote. Bob
Barnette received the most votes and becomes the official winner of this race.
Staff recorrllnends a motion accepting and certifying the results of the election.

Re: Approve Agreement with Consultants for the City Manager Selection Process
Staff is recommending the approval of the attached contract for Slavin Management
Consultants for the recruitment and selection of a new City Manager. The contract has been
reviewed and approved by City Attorney, Darcy Erickson and will become effective
11 / 13/2012, pending Council approval.
The cost for the search firm and any related expenses will be taken from the contingency
fund.
It is expected that Slavin Management will begin interviews with City Council and staff the
week of 11 /26/2012.
I will be available at the special meeting on 11 / 13/2012 at 4:00 p.m. to answer any questions
from Council.
