RESOLUTION NO. 2013 - 39
A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION PLAN FOR THE
CITY OF FRIDLEY
WHEREAS, the City of Fridley committed to several action steps in its 2030 Comprehensive Plan
related to improving pedestrian and cycling access across Fridley, and
WHEREAS, recent census data demonstrates that there is an even greater need than earlier reported
to make non-motorized transportation options accessible for elderly, low income, and disabled
Fridley households, and
WHEREAS, the City of Fridley has participated in the State Health Improvement Program for four
years to initiate improvements in the community that support healthier, active lifestyles for all
residents, and
WHEREAS, the City of Fridley has used the most recent round of State Health Improvement
Program funds to produce an Active Transportation Plan that establishes policies and goals for
increased sidewalk and trail access throughout the community, and
WHEREAS, the Active Transportation Plan will serve the purpose of guiding and prioritizing future
sidewalk and trail connections, and
WHEREAS, the Active Transportation Plan sets policies that support improved and safer access to
non-motorized means to travel around the community and use public transit;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Fridley that the 2013
Active Transportation Plan is adopted.
