A primary election was held on Tuesday, August 14, 2012, to select candidates for the office of
Councilmember at Large. Attachment 1 is the Statement of Canvass for this election. State Law
requires the City Council to canvass the results of the primary 3 days after the election. I have
included the total number of ballots cast in the City for this election,the total number of votes for
each candidate, a true copy of the ballot, and the names of the election judges as required.
There were a total number of 14,835 registered voters at 7:00 a.m. and 32 Election Day
registrations for a total of 14,867 registered voters. Of those registered voters, 1,477 cast a ballot
in the City thereby giving the City a voter turnout of 10%, which is 1%higher than the statewide
average.
Staff recommends a motion accepting and certifying the results of the election.
