RESOLUTION NO. 2014 - 43
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE GRANT APPLICATION FOR A
GREENCORPS MEMBER FROM MPCA
WHEREAS, The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) informed the City about the
opportunities available through the 2014-2015 GreenCorps member grant program; and
WHEREAS, Fridley staff prepared an application for a GreenCorps member, qualified for and
completed an interview with MPCA staff; and
WHEREAS, if the MPCA selects the City of Fridley to host a 2014-2015 GreenCorps member,
the City is committed to having the GreenCorps member implement the proposed projects as
described in Exhibit A; and
WHEREAS, the MPCA requires that the City of Fridley enter into a host site agreement with the
MPCA that identifies the terms, conditions, roles and responsibilities of the City; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Fridley hereby
agrees to enter into and sign a host site agreement with the MPCA to carry out the member activities
specified therein and to comply with all of the terms, conditions, and matching provisions of the
host site agreement and authorizes and directs Mayor and City Manage to sign the grant agreement
on its behalf.

Exhibit A
GreenCorps Projects
1) Creation of an updated Fridley Urban Forestry Plan
2) Develop and Emerald Ash Borer Management Plan, recommendations and budgets
3) Other projects:
Produce information for community awareness and education
Demonstrate cost-effectiveness for residents regarding trees and energy saving and
stormwater interception/green infrastructural development BMPs
Work with watershed partners to identify grants, programs and opportunities
Review high input areas currently mowed by City for cost-benefit analysis of turf
replacement by lower input plantings
